Kansas City Chiefs vs. Baltimore Ravens in Week 1 could mean a new first in the Andy Reid era

Last week, a report stated that the schedule for every NFL team would be released on Wednesday, May 15. They usually gap it all out so that constant content flows in and out. But we got some news on Monday regarding the Kansas City Chiefs.

The league made a significant announcement about the Kansas City Chiefs' season opener on Thursday Night Football at home. As we all know by now, the league decided to pit the Chiefs against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1 - a highly intriguing rematch of the AFC Championship game from last season.

This game isn't a rivalry by any means—that would be the other team in the AFC North. But it features two of the league's best quarterbacks. And they played in a crazy game with a chance to get to the Super Bowl last year. Of course, the Chiefs came out on top, as they won their third Super Bowl in this era.

Last year, the Chiefs also opened the season by playing a Thursday night football game at home against the Detroit Lions. Of course, the Chiefs lost that game and started the season 0-1.

This game against the Ravens will put the Chiefs at risk of something that has never happened in the Andy Reid era.

As we know, this team has been one of the most consistent teams in the league during Andy Reid's tenure in Kansas City. They have had a winning season every season. So, starting the season with a loss doesn't mean much. I mean, look, they lost to start the season last year and still ended up winning the Super Bowl.

But the Ravens are a legit team, and they will want to come back for revenge. So, there is a possibility the Chiefs will do something for the first time in the Reid era - lose the season opener in consecutive seasons.
