Last week: 30 (-1) Record: 1-6 The Chiefs have yet to lead in regulation this year. Meanwhile, when Head Coach Romeo Crennel was asked why Jamaal Charles only got 5 carries last week, he said “I’m not exactly sure.” I get that Brian Daboll calls the play, but having no clue why your best offensive player isn’t getting the ball is ridiculous. Both of them should be fired. I have no idea how Romeo Crennel got another Head Coaching job. He’s worse than Todd Haley. That’s hard to do. And yet they’re not last in these Power Rankings. The lesser of two terrible quarterbacks is starting this week as Brady Quinn suffered a concussion, meaning Matt Cassel will make this start. I thought the decision to start Quinn was a mistake (unless the goal was to secure the #1 overall pick). Cassel was turning the ball over at an incredible rate, but that was bound to regress to the mean eventually. Right now, he has an interception rate of 4.9%, almost double his career rate of 2.5% (not including this...

Brian Daboll Defends How Chiefs Used RB Jamaal Charles Vs Raiders

Offensive coordinator Brian Daboll defended the Chiefs’ use of running back Jamaal Charles in last week’s loss to Oakland. Charles was given the ball just eight times between rushes and pass receptions in the 26-16 loss to the Raiders. “Jamaal is a good player . . . and give Oakland credit,’’ Daboll said. “They did a nice job of stopping the run. We tried to move it some...

Could the Chiefs be turning to Ricky Stanzi?

Coach Romeo Crennel left the door open for Ricky Stanzi to see game action if Brady Quinn (concussion) isn’t cleared for Week 10. ”We will evaluate it and see which way we go,” Crennel said. We are tentatively expecting to see Quinn back under center versus the Steelers, who should be picked up as a spot fantasy defense start in any league where they remain available. Crennel...

Battle of Mediocre Teams: Chiefs vs. Chargers on TNF!

Romeo Crennel seat is too hot to sit on right now. Somebody had to win this game.  While there was always the possibility of a tie, you figured the football gods would intervene if need be to let one of these teams win a game and save everybody from an extra 15 minutes.  In a game that probably wouldn’t have been shown in a lot of places besides San Diego and Kansas City if played...

Chiefs have week to regroup after another loss

The Chiefs have played nearly 500 minutes over eight games and overtime, and so far they have yet to hold the lead in regulation for a single second. That's the startling reality for a team picked by some to win the AFC West this season. There have been devastating injuries to key players, including concussions to both quarterbacks. Their top wide receiver held out during training...

Chiefs-Chargers Live Blog, Second Half

Well, the Chiefs have still yet to hold a lead at any point in regulation this season. And neither Romeo Crennel nor Norv Turner were fired on the field during the first half. So little reason remains outside of direct rooting interest to tune into this game, yet the quality of the game hasn’t been anywhere as terrible as it could or deserves to be. San Diego started the game with...

ZB Notebook 11-1-2012

I didn’t fare well at the tables in Las Vegas last weekend so, while I was licking my wounds, I had plenty of time to follow the Sunday football games. Throughout the day and in the days that followed, what stuck with me is that there are a number of teams that have to be thinking about major changes, including potentially sacking their head coaches. I wouldn’t have guessed heading...
