Katherine Webb, the now-infamous girlfriend of Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback AJ McCarron, made famous by Brent Musburger’s perceived horndoggery and subsequent appearances on network morning news programs, announced on Twitter Monday that she is maximizing her heightened profile of late into a gig covering the biggest sporting event in the world. Strike while the iron is hot is how the old adage goes, right? Webb tweeted that she will be covering the Super Bowl for the standard-bearer of news magazine programs the cover the moments when the world of hard-hitting sports journalism meets entertainment gossip. What? You don’t know what show I am referring to? Inside Edition, of course. Duh. Try to keep up here. So excited to be chosen to cover the Super Bowl XLVII for @insideedition in New Orleans! — Katherine Webb (@_KatherineWebb) January 16, 2013 The decision by Inside Edition admittedly makes sense, what with Webb’s “Flavor of the Month” status at the moment and photogenic good looks that clearly translate well to television, not to mention her presumed knowledge of the game of football given her relationship with a big-time college quarterback, but I’m concerned about one thing: How is Lisa Guerrero, an Inside Edition correspondent who has a storied and successful background in sports journalism, going to take the news that she was passed over for this premium assignment? I’m predicting a hellish catfight. Or is that hoping for it? Either way.
