Kelvin Hayden, a former second-round selection in the 2005 NFL Draft, has now signed with the Chicago Bears.
The 6-0, 195-pound cornerback out of Illinois spent his first six seasons in the league with his original team, the Indianapolis Colts, where he started 46 games (appeared in 77 games) and collected 298 tackles, nine interceptions, four forced fumbles and three touchdowns.
According to NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora, Hayden has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with his new club.
The 28-year-old veteran enters his eighth season and adds depth to the team’s core of corners. After losing Corey Graham to the Baltimore Ravens and Zack Bowman to the Minnesota Vikings, Hayden looks to compete for a starting job with Tim Jennings and Charles Tillman.
