Last September, the Titans' star receiver, Kenny Britt, tore both his ACL and his MCL against the Denver Broncos, ending his 2011 season and putting 2012 in jeopardy. There's no doubt the team and Britt will be cautious with his rehab, and that's what likely led to Britt's decision to have arthroscopic surgery on his knew on Wednesday.

According to ESPN's Paul Kuharsky, Titans GM Ruston Webster said Wednesday, "It's not one of those things that was, 'Wow, we're having surgery.' It's very common, and if it helps his rehab process, it's well worth doing. Our goal is to have him play this year. You don't want to get into the middle of camp and (need to have surgery)."

Also according to Kuharsky, Webster indicated that Britt was able to run straight ahead during a recent work out, as well as running change-of-direction drills the following day. That information indicates that the surgery was merely a preventative measure.

Britt will be entering his 4th season in 2012. While playing in every game his rookie year, Britt compiled 42 receptions, averaging 16.7 yards per catch. Since then, his production has continued to rise, but his presence on the field has not. In 2010, Britt missed 4 games but was still able to equal his previous season total for receptions of 42. In 2011, Britt had 17 catches in just 3 games.
