I can’t begin to feel what Jacksonville Jaguars fans are feeling right now but I know it can’t be good. New owner Shahid Khan promised them that things would get better and for a couple of weeks things looked as if they might. I guess change is a relative state of mind to Khan. Khan has kept General Manager Gene Smith and he also kept defensive coordinator Mel Tucker. While retaining both of those guys wasn’t the worst of moves Khan could make, Jaguars fans were expecting the organization to receive more of an overhaul. That would include management, the coaching staff and the product on the field. From the looks of things fans will see little change in either one of these areas. Khan did make a head-coaching change. The Jaguars also have a new offensive coordinator but as Jaguars fans will see in the coming months these moves will create little change in the team’s on-field performance. That is because the Jaguars made somewhat of a lateral move in their hiring of Mike Mularkey as ...

Jacksonville Jaguars Need To Be Aggressive In Free Agency

New Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Mike Mularkey has not even been in town for a week, but he is already under an immense amount of pressure to bring winning football back to Jacksonville. The Jaguars new owner, Shahid Khan, now has a coach and general manager under three-year contracts and a mandate to turn around a franchise that has only won one playoff game since 1999. If Mularkey...

Falcons seek more dynamic offense under Koetter

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. If his pedigree is any indication, then Falcons fans might see more of a dynamic offense with new offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter calling the shots. He was on the same staff with Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid in three different places. He worked at Oregon under Mike Bellotti, where he was on the same staff with current Boise State coach Chris Peterson...

Swap Meet: Falcons, Jaguars Exchange Offensive Coordinators

Here’s a question for Atlanta Falcons fans. How do you improve an offense that was shutout in the playoffs? By hiring the offensive coordinator of the leagues’ last-ranked offense, that’s how. Or at least that seems to be the reasoning of Atlanta’s management. After “losing” offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey to the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Falcons hired the Jaguars...

Falcons to hire Koetter

Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that league sources have indicated the Falcons have hired former Jacksonville Jaguars offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter as their new offensive coordinator, replacing Mike Mularkey who took over the Jacksonville head coaching position this past week. Koetter first joined the Jaguars in 2007, the last season where current Falcons head coach Mike Smith...

Dirk Koetter to become Falcons offensive coordinator

Dirk Koetter, formerly of the Jacksonville Jaguars, agreed to terms on Sunday to become the Falcons new offensive coordinator, the team confirmed.  Koetter, 52, was Jacksonville’s offensive coordinator from 2007 to 2011. He will replace Mike Mularkey, who left to become Jacksonville’s head coach. Smith is high on Koetter’s work and how running back Maurice Jones-Drew led...

In good hands

What happens if Justin Blackmon has already been drafted by the time the Jacksonville Jaguars are up with the 7th pick?  I say the Jaguars stick with the plan of going BAR (best available receiver) in the first round.  If Blackmon is gone then they should draft Alshon Jeffery out of South Carolina.  Alshon has all the tools the Jaguars need in a top receiver.  He has great size...

Jaguars hire Aukerman as special teams assistant

The Jacksonville Jaguars have retained Craig Aukerman, hiring him as an assistant special teams coach.

Jags Make A Smart Hire

The new Jacksonville Jaguars owner, Shahid Khan, made a quiet, but good hire this week in Coach Mike Mularkey. Mularkey may be just the man to develop young quarterback Blaine Gabbert, and in order to do that, he will want to fine a nice young target for his QB. Mularkey previously coached the Buffalo Bills six seasons ago. He led the Bills to a 14-18 record in just two seasons...
