The kicker is that he's also a singer. Still, Josh Brown isn't quite ready to drop football and expand on his newfound success belting out verses rather than booting footballs. Brown, 34, has received notoriety over the past week for his part in a MetLife video where he's one of several current and former NFL players singing a mashed rendition of the National Anthem. But that's not why the Giants want to bring him back. More than likely, they enjoyed the 89 percent of field goals he made this past season more than his singing skills. They liked his ability to kick the ball high and deep to improve their kickoff coverage. It’s why the Giants appear on the verge of re-signing the veteran kicker for one more season, possibly more. “I absolutely would love to be back with the Giants. I conveyed that with them,” Brown said in an interview Wednesday with NJ.com. “I was picking up that they were feeling the same exact way.” Brown said he expects to speak with the Giants in the next four to five days, or some time after the Super Bowl passes and the Seahawks clear from the team’s Quest Diagnostics Training Center. It sounds as if a deal between the two sides is imminent and likely. “I’m not looking to make it rain here or anything. I have three children and a wife and I just want to support my family that way as long as I can in this league,” Brown said. “My exit meetings were great and I know they are doing evaluations and the things they need to do. I look forward to talking with them very soon.” In the meantime, Brown is basking in his increased popularity from the viral video that also features Giants defensive end Justin Tuck, who regularly belts out country songs in the locker room. The video is the reason Brown’s back in New York this week to participate in the MetLife winter welcome marketing campaign that includes Tuck, Eddie George, Emmitt Smith, Nick Mangold and Greg Jennings. Amazingly, Brown didn't even know the list of impressive current and former players that were in the video until it was complete.
