ATLANTA - OCTOBER 18: Quarterback Jay Cutler #6 of the Chicago Bears against the Atlanta Falcons at Georgia Dome on October 18, 2009 in Atlanta, Georgia. (Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images)
Jay Cutler’s toughness on the football field has been unfairly called into question in the past. But if anyone suspected for one second that the Chicago Bears quarterback lacked the intestinal fortitude to get an up-close-and-personal gander as his first child was being delivered? Well, they would be sadly mistaken. In an upcoming interview set to air on E! that Giuliana Rancic conducted with the mother of Cutler’s firstborn child (as well as his fiancée), Kristin Cavallari — likely related to the previously on-again-off-again couple’s reported upcoming nuptials in July — it is revealed just how involved Cutler was in the birth of his son, Camden, when the little bundle of joy arrived last August. Via US Weekly, the apparent go-to source — along with E!, of course — for all news related to the childbirth experiences of professional athletes, apparently: “Was Jay right there watching? Or is he one of those guys who’s squeamish,” E! host Giuliana Rancic asks Cavallari, 26, in an upcoming special TV interview. “He held one of my legs!” Cavallari exclaims. “He was there!” But that’s not how she wanted it to happen. “I was like, ‘You’re going to be behind me. You’re not going to see anything,’” Cavallari recalls. “And the nurse was like, ‘Oh, no, no. He’s going to hold your leg. I was like, ‘Oh, no he’s not.’ She was like, ‘It’s different when it’s your own.’” “Well, at that point I’m like whatever,” she recounts. “So he held my leg, he saw the whole thing.” “He’s not traumatized?” Rancic asks. “He’s okay?” “We’re okay,” Cavallari says with a big laugh. Now hold on just a second. Since when are cigarettes allowed in delivery rooms? Oh, I kid, I kid. It was only a reason to reference the Smokin’ Jay Cutler Tumblr. Because it’s awesome.
