Does LaMichael James want out of San Francisco? His series of cryptic tweets on Thursday may hold the answer.

First, there was this:

Innocent enough, right? Well, a few hours later, the second-year running back escalated things in a hurry.

It's unclear who or what James is referring to, but unlike so many other athletes, he didn't opt for the overused "I was hacked" excuse.

Finally, in his most recent tweet, James kept the cliffhanger suspense going.

To be clear, this could be much ado about nothing. But it would make a great deal of sense if James was indeed unhappy with the 49ers. In 2013, he was relegated to punt/kick returner while recording just 12 carries for 59 yards on offense.

A former second-round pick, James is high on talent, but may be the odd man out of a crowded backfield, especially with the impending debut of Marcus Lattimore.
