NEW ORLEANS - JANUARY 24: Drew Brees #9 (R) and Mark Brunell #11 of the New Orleans Saints celebrate after their 31-28 overtime win against the Minnesota Vikings during the NFC Championship Game at the Louisiana Superdome on January 24, 2010 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Although it’s evident the Saints don’t feel the same, at least one of Drew Brees‘ receivers have gone to bat for the record-setting quarterback, who remains locked in a contractual battle. During Saints OTAs Thursday, Lance Moore told reporters that Brees “deserves the world” — or, more appropriately, the title of highest-paid QB. Why? “He’s done things that have never been done before,” Moore said, via NFL.com Fair enough. Brees has shattered records, eclipsed milestones, and even brought a Super Bowl championship to the once-embattled city of New Orleans during his time in the Big Easy. It’s not surprising Moore would feel this way, being one of Brees’ favorite guys on the field and a player who (luckily) broke into the league as a member of the high-octane offense. However, Moore’s pleasantries only carry so much weight, and his opinion — no matter how justified — will certainly not sway the front office into suddenly backing up the Brinks truck just because it’s what Brees

  • I recently reead an article by John Cznerek or some other overpaid writer who said that Brees doesn't deserve to be the highest paid QB. Well - here's the thing - this guy is for real. Maybe on the Patriots, pre- manning Colts, or even Aikman cowboys he shouldn't and wouldn't deserve to be the highest paid QB. Oh yeah, he broken a lot of records and all - but examine with who. He took a bunch of ok guys and tossed a lot of record breaking passing yards with guys who weren't household names. Now - with the Saints team (not my favorite) decimated with Head coach, assistant coach, defensive coach and X players not being there because of issues - you have a guy who is basically a player coach and you are asking him to do that and more - heck yeah - the guy deserves to be paid top dollar to keep the Saints running. Don't be stupid N.O. where are you get another top quality guy that you can lay all your junk on at this stage in the game and come out smelling like roses - no where! Pay the man since you are saving three coaching salaries and some high priced vets salaries. Or someone else will!
  • Lance Moore is delusional!!!! Not saying the Saints aren't being stupid and should have had him signed already but, Aaron Rodgers should be the highest paid QB in the league if for no other reason than he's got more years left than grandpa Breese. From the outside looks like he'll be going the way of Donovan McNabb not Aaron Rodgers.
  • Their is always someone out their who is so willing to trash the Saints. These Guys worked real hard to bring N.O. into the limelight of Super Bowl. I believe in giving credit where credit is due. I am not impressed with Peyton Manning, he is a poor sport. He simply did not slap hands with Drew after they lost. I think more of his brother E.M. than P.M.. As for Drew, I love all the special things he did for his team & N.O.. Shame on the Guys with the money who do not give this Talented man, what he truly deserves. Taking them where no one before them ever did. One word comes to mind UnGrateful!
