The Miami Dolphins and free agent fullback Vonta Leach have been in no rush to strike a deal despite strong mutual interest. They'll get to it when they get to it, but first things first -- Jeff Ireland needs a breather. According to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald, Ireland, the Dolphins' general manager, is on vacation. So while head coach Joe Philbin is eagerly awaiting the veteran and former All-Pro back's fate, Ireland won't be doing business until he returns to team headquarters. That implies the Dolphins are not concerned about Leach signing on with another team any time soon. The former Baltimore Raven had reportedly been talking to his last team, as well as the New York Giants, while being courted by the Dolphins. This offseason, Miami has always been the most likely destination for Leach. As Salguero notes, the 31-year-old Leach is seeking a multi-year deal (who isn't?). If the Dolphins gave him one, they'd have to re-evaluate where they stand with ...

Lamar Miller learning a lot from Frank Gore

According to the Miami Herald, Dolphins running back Lamar Miller has been working out with fellow Hurricane, 49ers running back Frank Gore and has learned quite a bit. “The way Lamar is learning from Frank, it’s a beautiful thing,” Steelers linebacker Sean Spence, another former Cane, said this week. Guess who’s back…back again….PhinNation’s back….

What’s going on Dolphins fans?  We hope everyone has been enjoying their summer!  I know things around here have been quiet lately, but we’ve had a lot going on outside of PhinNation and quite frankly, there hasn’t been much to report about the Dolphins.  Sure, we could’ve written some stories about the offseason and what camp battles we’ll be watching.  But there are...

Talented Dolphins defensive line still has questions

The Dolphins defensive line last year was pretty good. Defensive tackle Randy Starks and defensive end Cameron Wake each went to the Pro Bowl, and end/tackle hybrid Jared Odrick had a career year with 5 sacks as well. However, along with the addition of versatile athlete Dion Jordan to the defensive line rotation comes more questions, most notably: how will the playing time be divided...

Lamar Miller Looks To Burst Onto Scene in 2013

Miami Dolphins running back Lamar Miller was one of the biggest steals in the 2012 NFL Draft.  Despite rushing for just 250 yards and a score on 51 carries (4.9 YPC) through 13 games (one start) during his rookie campaign, there’s reason to believe that the former fourth round pick (No. 97 overall) out of Miami (FL) will burst onto the scene in his second season in 2013. Miller’s...

Photo: Mike and Maurkice Pouncey’s unfortunate hat choices

Miami Dolphins center Mike Pouncey and twin bro, Steelers center Maurkice were out celebrating their shared birthday the other night and were snapped wearing hats that read  ”Free Hernandez”. Miami Dolphins 300-Pound Rookie Tweets ESPN to Include ‘Fat Guys’ in Magazine’s Body Issue

Fat guys need love, too. The ESPN The Magazine Body Issue draws tons of attention every years as the greatest athletes from all sorts of sports bare it all for the camera. But apparently the popular newsstand item is excluding one core group of athletes: the fat guys. Miami Dolphins rookie A.J. Francis took to Twitter in opposition of the oversized injustice, urging ESPN to make...

Picking a new favorite team: AFC East candidates, Dolphins anyone?

We’re just days away from the start of NFL training camps! And I’m currently shopping for a new favorite team. Jay Cutler is my favorite player, but the Bears and the Patriots are the two teams I’ve loved in the past. There are/were “creative differences” between myself and both franchises that make it impossible for us to be together ever again. So after breaking up with...

What Does the Future Hold for Ryan Tannehill?

By mortal rookie quarterback standards, Ryan Tannehill had an okay season last year. It cannot compare to those of Robert Griffin III, Russell Wilson, or Andrew Luck, but for a quarterback starting in his first season in the league, Tannehill's grade is satisfactory.  He threw for 3,294 yards with 12 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He led an equally okay Miami Dolphins...
