Dear Romeo Crennel,

Let me start out by saying, “Thank you!” for what you've done with the Chiefs defense this season.

I'm not sure if you realize this or not, but the blue collar defensive-minded fans in Kansas City have been waiting for you and this year's defense since Marty Schottenheimer resigned way back in 1999. For more than a decade under Schottenheimer, Chiefs fans filled Arrowhead Stadium and made it the toughest place in the NFL for opposing offenses to play, creating one of the greatest home-field advantages in all of sports.

Since the 90s however, the once regular trips to the playoffs and 100+ decibel crowd noise have become fewer and farther between, with fans that have gotten tired of watching Chiefs' teams flounder on the defensive side of the ball.

Under your leadership as defensive coordinator this season, many of the same players we watched on this team last year, like linebacker Derrick Johnson, have made miraculous turnarounds and as a unit are playing like those great defenses of the 90s. It is these performances that have equated to three big wins, and have gotten this city excited about the Chiefs again.

Kansas City's fans are not just behind you, but we're looking forward to seeing what you've got in store for Peyton Manning and the Colts in two weeks, after the bye. And when the team comes back to Arrowhead to take on Jacksonville, after what we hope are two more big wins against the Colts and Texans on the road, expect 70,000 of your biggest fans to shower David Garrard and the Jaguars with more noise than they've ever heard in their football lives.

Keep up the great work!

Chiefs Fans
