The Lions have added free agent running backs Mike Bell and Jerome Harrison in an effort to replace the void created by Mikel Leshoure’s injury. Both players have had a moderate amount of success in the recent past, but ended up buried on depth charts last season.
Harrison has an exceptional run to close out the 2009 season racking up 550+ yards and five touchdowns over the final five games while he played for the Browns. Bell ran for 650+ yards and five touchdowns in 13 games for the Saints in 2009 as a change of pace back and injury replacement.
Both backs were actually traded for one another in the 2010 season, but neither made much of an impact in 2010.
