Found September 18, 2012 on The Majors Detroit:
The Lions lost more than just the game Sunday night against the 49ers, they also lost another defensive back as recently acquired Drayton Florence went down with a forearm injury. Already without starters Chris Houston, Louis Delmas and rookie Bill Bentley, head coach Jim Schwartz game an update on Florence’s injury today during his meeting with the media. “He’s in the process right now of going through it,” Schwartz said, via Anwar Richardson of MLive.com. “He got some preliminary stuff at the stadium, but he’s going to have some more stuff. It doesn’t look real good, but we’ll see.” Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press later reported that Florence sustained a broken arm and could miss significant time. At this point it’s unclear who will be getting the start next weekend against Tennessee. Florence is probably done for a while while the Bentley, Houston and Delmas’ statuses are still up in the air. Aside from the injured contingent, the Lions are now down to Jacob Lacey, Kevin ...

Suh buys fellow defensive linemen recliners

Soon after Ndamukong Suh became a Detroit Lion, there arrived a giant scarlet (University of Nebraska) red recliner in the defensive meeting room.  That was three years ago.  Before last week, Suh was still the only defensive lineman in the Lions locker room that could sit back and relax in a big comfy chair. The Lions other D-linemen were stuck with “stiff office chairs” in...

Free Agent Stock Watch: Cliff Avril

With 30 sacks in his first four seasons, Cliff Avril has become one of the league’s rising defensive stars, and will undoubtedly end up with a major contract at some point in the near future. For the time being however, Avril will be playing without much in the way of financial security on his one year franchise tag tender, which only guarantees him $10.6 million. Avril publicly...

Detroit traded a seventh-round pick for Barnes in August. Bentley...

Detroit Lions: San Francisco's Dominance Greatly Exaggerated

Literacy is apparently not a requirement to play for San Francisco.Either that, or the 49ers have a vastly over-inflated view of their accomplishment on Sunday night. To be fair, the Detroit Lions came in and were forced to play San Franciso's style of football. The 49ers played better. They took advantage of their opportunities. They won the game.Since the final seconds ticked...

GameDay: Detroit at San Francisco

Note: While these pieces are typically reserved for Thursday Night Football and Monday Night Football games, the passing of my Yia Yia (Grandma in Greek) this week had me swap Thursday’s Bears-Packers game with tonight’s Lions-49ers clash. Thanks for your understanding and prayers. If the NFL’s been really good at one thing the past few years it’s been giving us a variety...

Omega-TronPhoto Credit: Dave Hogg Calvin Johnson is an elite WR and that doesn’t figure to change in 2012. However, the owners who paid the high price for his services on draft/auction day should be concerned about the return. Paying the high cost for Johnson was like spending top-dollar on the best prostitute money can buy. You know you are getting a sure thing that won’t...
