Lions defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham believes rookie DT Nick Fairley, bothered by a foot injury at times this season, is fit. "Physical conditioning is really good," Cunningham said. "He has got this guy he is working against every day — I don't know if you heard we signed (ex-Cowboys OG) Leonard Davis. I have coached against Leonard a lot, and he looks like an elephant with ballerina feet. I mean, he is very gifted and he moves his feet really well. Noted Cunningham, "I don't think Leonard knew who No. 98 was because Fairley did a really good job a couple times on him, and that was impressive because Leonard just doesn't go out to practice to be a scout-team guy right now."

Lions’ coaches still expecting big things from Nick Fairley

One of the reasons for all the optimism in Detroit heading into this season was the arrival of rookie defensive tackle Nick Fairley. As it turned out, the optimism was justified — the Lions are 6-2 — but Fairley has hardly seen the field. However, there’s still plenty of optimism about Fairley on the Lions’…

10 things I loved about the Lions' first 8 games

With the Lions' season ready to fire back up after the bye week, I thought I should list what I liked about the Lions over their first 8 games, and the resulting 6-2 record. I came up with a list of 10, a nice, round number...also the number of victories the Lions are going to need in order to have a shot at the NFC wild card. So in no particular order... 1. The Lions need to run in the Windy city

The people are growing nervous as the final minutes until the Lions game ticks off. There is no Jahvid Best. Maurice Morris has not been consistent enough and Kevin Smith has been in the dressing room for less than a week. The Lions are a passing team. We know that. But can Matthew Stafford

Detroit Lions Put Jason Fox on IR, Sign Punter

Lions can't panic, but could sure use a big play

The Lions can't panic. They must survive this early storm. Before this drive they were averaging nearly seven yards per play. You'd take that any game. The problem is the two turnovers. They are why the Lions trail 10-0. And now they are in trouble again after a long punt return by Devin

The Lions have butterfingers

Didn't we just talk about Nate Burleson putting the ball on the ground too much? He made a great play, tiptoeing on the sideline, but that turnover is inexcusable. He did not get blasted. He has to hang on to that ball, even though it was a pretty good strip. This is a bad start. The Lions

Detroit Lions vs. Chicago Bears need to know

Here are some football facts you need to know about the Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears as the teams prepare to meet on Sunday.

Stafford Tryin To Brawl Like A Champ…

When you have a bunch of real tough guys like the MEN on the Chicago Bears roster beating fake Detroit Lion tough guys like blonde headed step children (why does it have to be red?), FIGHTS WILL GO DOWN. So during the Bears 37-13 beat down of the Lions, there were about 10 different real fights with the best fight being when my man Matt Stafford tossed Bears cornerback DJ Moore to...
