The Detroit Lions had a great 2011. They finished the season with a 10-6 record and made the playoffs for the first time since 1999.
Detroit wont, however, remember the first day of 2012 very fondly. The Lions lost to the Packers 45-41 on Sunday, but had a couple of tough calls go against them that clearly could have made a difference in the outcome.

But with everything riding on one game, teams can be more conservative in the playoffs.
