First believe it or not the Lions are a team with players other guys want to play with. Reggie Bush, DE/DT Israel Idonije, S Glover Quin Jr. are all players other teams wanted. This also isn’t even mentioning some of their own quality pieces retained in Louis Delmas and Chris Houston. The Lions also added key depth pieces in DE Jason Jones, SS Chris Hope and DT CJ Mosley. Essentially Detroit is staring at a revamped defensive line after last years had been living on reputation for 3 years, while losing production. Reggie Bush will add that playmaker Detroit has been starved for since Jahvid Best went down with multiple...

Akers being pushed by Rugland for Lions vacancy?

How could David Akers think anything other than believing that he had the inside track to the vacant Detroit Lions kicking spot?  After all, his competition is a Norwegian with no prior NFL experience and the somewhat gaudy nickname of “Kickalicious”.  But Akers hasn’t kicked too many footballs during the Lions’ offseason workouts while he rehabs an injury that occurred...

A healthy Akers would provide experienced replacement

The Detroit Lions really couldn't have done much better finding an experienced replacement for kicker Jason Hanson than with the addition of David Akers, provided one thing: That Akers is healthy. Win or Lose Year to Year, the Detroit Lions Will Always Remain Maddening to Watch

The national media, at times, forgets what it means to watch the Detroit Lions. Simply because the team signed Reggie Bush, made other upgrades and should improve upon a dreadful 4-12 record, ESPN’s thinking is that Detroit should be fun to watch either way. Everyone who’s ever lived in Detroit around the beginning of every fall knows that’s not the case. Since the beginning...
