NFL Injury Report:
Kansas City Chiefs
New York Jets
Detroit Lions have made Matthew Stafford one of the most valuable quarterbacks in the NFL, they have the best receiver in Calvin Johnson and yet they seem oddly weak in depth at the rest of the receiving core.
With Nate Burleson and Ryan Broyles coming off of season-ending injuries, and with Mike Thomas and Kris Durham offering talent but not explosiveness, the Lions are offering some veterans a position during training camps.
Free agent receivers Laurent Robinson, Steve Breaston and Chaz Schilens will all attend training camp. Robinson worked out for the New York Jets on Monday and is the most dynamic player of this trio yet has had concussion issues; Breaston struggled with the Kansas City Chiefs last season due to an inflammed knee and Schilens was a bit player for the Jets last season.
People may say as long as they have Megatron they have nothing worry about, yet the contract they have handed Stafford is already causing Detroit some short-term discomfort by attempting to massage a painful depth position with reliable veteran and not dynamic youth.

The NFL has become a passing league. It is no wonder that quarterbacks are paid big money, given that they not only supply the ammunition but also take the blows; in some cases, you might as well put a target on them.
The latest signal caller to earn some big money via a contract extension is Detroit Lions on-field general, Matt Stafford. His new payday is worth $41.5 million in...
I’ve been putting off writing on the Wide Receivers hoping that there would be a key addition in the week before the Detroit Lions start training camp. An addition was made, but he likely won’t even make the roster.
Calvin Johnson is the best receiver in football today. There is no question, and no argument against this. Even the most bitter of rivals can see that Johnson...
The Detroit Lions slipped back to their losing ways last season, dropping their final eight games to flop to 4-12, making their appearance in the 2011 playoffs look like a fluke.
The approach this season is to make last season look like a fluke.

The Lions ranked 27th out of 32 teams in points allowed, giving up an average of 27.3, but it wasn't all the defense's fault.
Of the 49 touchdowns, 10 came when the defense wasn't on the field - four on interception returns, two on fumble returns, two on punt returns and two on kick returns.
The Lions finished 13th in total defense, 14th in pass defense...
The special teams were in disarray the first month after allowing both a punt return and a kick return for touchdowns in back-to-back weeks. Danny Crossman, the special teams coordinator, was under fire with some calling for him to be canned immediately.
The coverage units quietly got their act together and finished the season out respectably, but the return game and...
The Detroit Lions made a move Wednesday - two days before training camp officially begins - to try to find a bigger, experienced receiver to play on the outside opposite Calvin Johnson.
The club confirmed that an agreement has been reached on a one-year contract with 6-foot-4, 225-pound Chaz Schilens, who had 28 receptions for 289 yards and two touchdowns last season with the New...
NFL training camp is nearing and position battles will heat up as we prepare for the pre-season. One position that has no battle is the Quarterbacks for the Detroit Lions. Both the starter and backup are securely in place and the only battle going on is for the third string clipboard holder.
Coming into this season there will be a lot of questions about Matthew Stafford’s worth...
The Detroit Lions have signed wide receiver Chaz Schilens, who has recently played for the New York Jets. Schilens caught two touchdowns in six starts last year and is very quick. Standing at 6-4 and 225 pounds, he will be aiming to compete for a spot on the final roster with the Lions.

Wideout Chaz Schilens signed with the Detroit Lions on Wednesday.Fantasy Spin:The oft-injured Schilens is obviously insurance just in case Nate Burleson (leg) and Ryan Broyles (knee) aren't ready to go. The team is also expected to work out Laurent Robinson.
Overall outlook : This team has a bunch of potentially impactful fantasy players. What do we care if they're undisciplined, or have a terrible defense?
