ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Lions will bring in former Jaguars CB Rashean Mathis for visit on Saturday.
Detroit is also bringing in free agent OT Phil Trautwein for a tryout on Saturday. (Aaron Wilson)
Mathis, 32, has found no reported interest this offseason since his contract with the Jaguars expired. He suffered a torn ACL back in 2011, which most likely impacted his overall production last year.
The Lions could be looking to add some depth at cornerback to compete with guys like Ron Bartell and Bill Bentley. It appears as though Chris Houston and Darius Slay will be the team’s starters in their base defense.
We’ll see if the anything comes of Mathis’ meeting with the Lions.
