Last year Matthew Stafford, Calvin Johnson and Ndamukong Suh had a certain swagger as they ending a playoff drought and sent a message to the NFC North. Fast forward to 2012 and the Detroit Lions are nowhere near getting into the playoffs. Matthew Stafford has been anything but stable. Not just game to game but from quarter to quarter. It seems his mechanics have even changed as he continues to always throw sidearm. The Lions are second in offensive yards but just 14th in points. They love to play from behind and can't hold onto a lead. It seems as if the Lions offense only feels the need to move when they are forced to. Even with the emergence of Mikel Leshoure, and Joique Bell the Lions are anything but consistent... Read more

  • The way the Lions are playing, "They are not playing to win the Game, They seem to be playing not to lose the game". There's no sense of urgency to what they are doing until the forth quarter and they are behind.

Matthew Stafford was sacked five times by the Minnesota Viking, the Detroit Lions lost the game and are now 1-3 on the season and their offensive line is very offensive this season. Matthew Stafford airbrushed t-shirt available at Ford Field

The t-shirt that Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford was so proud of in the ESPN commercial for Monday Night Football is now on sale at Ford Field.  If you remember the commercial, you remember the shirt.  Stafford had a t-shirt made with an airbrushed image of himself on it.  Immediately following, he was eating lobster for dinner and asked the server for a bib to protect said...

Lions' Stafford, Johnson haven't connected on a TD

Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson were basically unstoppable early last season. Detroit's dynamic duo connected for two touchdowns in each of the first four games and nine times in five games to lift the team to a 5-0 start. The Lions are 1-3 this season for many reasons. One of them is that opponents have turned the pair into a dud - Stafford hasn't thrown a TD pass...

Matthew Stafford Fails To Impress vs. Vikings

Detroit quarterback Matthew Stafford went 30-of-51 for 319 yards but he was sacked five times and failed to throw a touchdown pass. He did rush for a touchdown but he only has four total scores in four games after producing 41 in 16 games last season.Fantasy Spin:The good news is that Stafford wasn't limited by his leg injury that knocked him out last week. The bad news is that...

Detroit Lions drop game to Vikings, fall to 1-3

The real story here is that the Detroit Lions are 1-3, and after suffering two bad losses in a row, seem to be out of any sort of playoff contention. But that certainly isn’t the only story. The Lions were run out of their own building by the Minnesota Vikings 20-13, leaving Detroit in a state of shock. Following a year in which Detroit started the season 5-0 and went on to make...

Mike Leshoure Contained by Vikings

Detroit running back Mikel Leshoure handled 17 touches Sunday but he only produced 63 total yards.Fantasy Spin:Leshoure wasn't bothered by his groin injury as much as he was Minnesota's overpowering defensive front. The back's day was made worse when he lost a fumble on his longest run of the day. It won't get much easier after the Lions' Week 5 bye with Philadelphia...

Detroit Lions Keys to the Game vs. the Minnesota Vikings

Sitting here a month ago, it looked as though this game against the Minnesota Vikings would be an easy win and Detroit would be heading into the bye week on a positive note. However after falling to the winless Tennessee Titans last Sunday while Minnesota pulled the upset at home against the San Francisco 49ers, the perspective on this game has changed dramatically. Entering today’s...

The Detroit Lions are back

A season ago, the Detroit Lions made good on promises of a turnaround by making the playoffs with a 10-6 record. Despite losing in the opening round, they set the bar for 2012 higher than any point in recent history. Unfortunately, they haven't followed through. The Lions are off to a stunning 1-3 start, with their lone win coming against the St. Louis Rams. In their...

Simpson, Stafford active for Vikings-Lions

Minnesota wide receiver Jerome Simpson is active for Sunday's game at Detroit after serving a three-game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy. The suspension stemmed from an offseason felony drug conviction. Quarterback Matthew Stafford is active for the Lions. He left last weekend's loss to Tennessee with an injured right hip. Detroit safety...

Week 4 Bait And Switch

I’m on the clearance rack at TJ Maxx Juan… Time to pull the Bait and Switch.  Sell those players that are overachieving and buy those players that are underachieving.  It’s pretty simple in theory, but you have to work the right deal to pull the Bait and Switch. I’m Buying Darren McFadden Have you seen his schedule?  Might be the easiest thing you can imagine for a...

Same issues plague the Lions

Ford Field turned into a house of horrors for the Lions on Sunday as they lost their third straight game 20-13 against the Vikings to fall to 1-3 heading into the bye week. It seems like the same problems are facing the Lions in all of the losses, lack of consistent running game, big plays and special teams issues.  Always good to see that a team is struggling in all three parts...

Five & Five: The biggest surprises/disappointments from Sunday

We wrap up the fourth Sunday of the NFL season by looking at a handful of players who exceeded expectations and a handful who failed to deliver. Surprises Brian Hartline, Miami Dolphins: Um, obviously. The four-year veteran has never had more than 615 yards in a single season. Sunday, he 253 in one game against the Cardinals. Ryan Tannehill, Miami Dolphins: Um, obviously...
