When it rains it pours in Jacksonville, as their top pick from the 2013 draft, Luke Joeckel, suffered a broken ankle in the Jaguars 34-20 loss to the St. Louis Rams. The rookie tackle from Texas A&M was drafted second overall by the Jaguars and was starting his first game at his natural position of left tackle. However it wouldn't last one quarter, as with just over three minutes to go in the first quarter of the game Joeckel's ankle rolled over under pressure from the Rams defender and Joeckel had to be taken off the field on the back of the medical cart. After the game coach Gus Bradley announced that Joeckel's season was done. This is a huge loss for the Jaguars who now only have two active players at the tackle positions. Joeckel had a slow start adjusting to the NFL game in his first few appearances for Jacksonville but being given the start at left tackle, a position he played so well at A&M, was something the Jaguars hoped to give their offensive line some form of effectiveness which it has desperately needed in this terrible start to the season. Quarterback Blaine Gabbert also left the game with a hamstring injury and didn't return leaving back up Chad Henne in control for the final quarter of the game. What now for the 0-5 Jaguars? The good news is wide receiver Justin Blackmon has returned from his suspension and showed an immediate spark for a Jaguars offence that has been extremely flat so far, as he caught five passes for a game high 136 yards. If all else fails in Jacksonville, there is always Teddy Bridgewater and Co. coming in the 2014 draft.
