Philadelphia Eagles Head Coach Andy Reid will return to the team for a 14th season according to team owner, Jeffrey Lurie.

Jeffrey Lurie, the owner of the Philadelphia Eagles spoke to the media today about the future of the team. It was the first time since training camp that Lurie addressed the media.

“This was without question the most disappointing season since I’ve owned the team.” Lurie said early on. “This was not only unacceptable, but very, very disappointing.”

Lurie spoke about the Eagles 8-8 season and his long look at the state of the team in light of a such a disappointing season.

Lurie said that in making his decision about whether to bring back head coach Andy Reid that he looked at Reid’s track record, recent history and intangibles.

His conclusion was that Andy Reid has “a superb track record for making it into the tournament (playoffs)” and that “I want to see our team coached by Andy Reid and I can’t wait to see them play.”

Many around the Eagles organization believed that Lurie’s lack of public endorsement of Andy Reid during the tumultuous season was damning. Reid just finished his 13th season as head coach of the Eagles and will return for a 14th.

Lurie said, “He (Andy Reid) has the fire in his belly to be the best.”
