According to Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com, 49ers wide receiver  Mario Manningham is roughly a month away from getting on the football field. At some point, Mario Manningham will return from a knee injury of his own. Manningham, who was second on the team behind Crabtree with 42 receptions last season, figures to be about a month away from making a run at getting on the field. In any event, it’ll probably take more of a committee approach to compensating for the loss of Crabtree. If Manningham get back to the player he was before he tore his ACL, the 49ers will be in great shape on offense.   Need NFL Tickets? Loading... San Francisco 49ers Rookie Defensive End Tank Carradine: Future Replacement for Justin Smith?

Size, durability, and speed are a few qualities that define a good defensive end in the NFL.  The 49ers’ starting defensive ends Justin Smith and Ray McDonald excel in these areas.  McDonald is signed with the Niners through 2016 so he shouldn’t be going anywhere anytime soon.  However, as dominant Justin Smith has been, he will not play forever at that position.  Eventually...

According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com, free agent wide receiver Randy Moss likely won’t be playing football this season. With Eagles receiver Jeremy Maclin tearing an ACL and Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta gone for at least six weeks with a dislocated hip, the name “Randy Moss” could pick up some steam in league circles, at least from a speculation standpoint....

49ers GM Trent Baalke says CB Eric Wright is still an option: ‘The door is never closed on players’

San Francisco 49ers general manager Trent Baalke said cornerback Eric Wright is still an option for the team. Baalke traded for the troubled defensive back from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers; however, Wright failed his physical. Wright is a free agent and the team is looking for defensive backs so there is always a possibility the team will bring him back in. “The door is never...

San Francisco 49ers: defensive preview

Patrick Willis (Photo by: Stephen Brashear/Getty Images) Coming off a season where they were one play away from being champions you would think the Niners were a team that was set for many years on both sides of the football. San Francisco 49ers: A Perfect Fit for Nnamdi Asogmuha
