Marion Barber may have received some negative attention for his run in with the law last week, but the Cowboys running back deserves all of the praise possible for the good deed he has done. Barber is donating more than $500,000 worth of computers to 21 high schools in the Dallas Independent School District.
The $500,000 in computers includes 600 netbooks and 30 desktop computers, according to Jon Dahlander, a district spokesman.
“We have things going on right now. Budget cuts. Losing money. Losing teachers,” Barber said. “To me, the feeling was indescribable. Smiles, I love smiles. I love positive energy.”
Barber made the donation through the Barber Foundation. According to the foundations website, Barber, his father and brother, Houston Texans safety, Dominique created the foundation to help underprivileged urban youths through community involvement, health and fitness programs, and academic support.
Hats off to Marion. He did a great thing.
