This tremendous photo of Saints RB Mark Ingram overjoyed with excitement over a frosty treat – locally known as a sno-ball - after a hot day at training camp comes to us via Reddit/r/NFL user chadrochill:

For those of you who are curious (like we were), the uploader was also kind enough to explain the distinction between a “sno-ball” and other regional versions of this icy summer classic:

For people wondering the difference between sno-balls and snow cones, I will do my best to accurately describe it:

The basic difference is that snow cones were traditionally made with chips of ice, where it would be fairly crunchy and look like this.

Then in the 1930s in New Orleans, 2 men (George Ortolano and Ernest Hansen) independently of each other designed ice shaving machines that made the ice more powdery (that is the best word I can think of to describe it). The product became known as “sno-balls” and they look more like this

Sno-balls are serious business in New Orleans (heck, we perfected them) and there are a number of famous Sno-ball stands in town, including Hansen’s.

So there you have it.  And as you can tell from his expression above, Ingram LOVES him some sno-balls!!!

It’s Time To Get Rid Of Roger Goodell, Not Allowing Sean Payton To Attend H.O.F. Game is The Final Straw

Who does Roger Goodell think he is? Not allowing the New Orleans suspended head coach Sean Payton to attend the Hall Of Fame Game is ridiculous, why not make Payton wear one of those ankle bracelets so Goodell can check his whereabouts 24 x7?   Payton has already been punished for his role in Bounty-Gate by being suspended from his head coaching duties. Now, Goodell says he can’t...

Another Saints season, another player hernia surgery. That seems to be par for the course with the Saints, so all is right with the world. From now on, anytime you hear "groin" and "Saints...

Will New Orleans Saints Repeat as NFC South Champs? History Says No

Throughout its 10-year history, the NFC South has been consistently inconsistent – and wildly entertaining. Since the NFL realignment in 2002, not one NFC South team – the New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers or Tampa Bay Buccaneers – has won the division in consecutive seasons. Also since 2002, each NFC South team has not only won at least two division...

Evan Royster Redskins Starter?

Shanny’s been giving me love Juan… Now, I don’t trust Shanny and Son further than I can throw Darren Sproles, but Royster has been working will the starters all camp for various reasons.  First, Tim Hightower is not 100% and was not impressive at all last season when he was.  Roy Helu doesn’t have the backing of the staff and Royster finished 2011 with back to back 100...
