"Throwing for 5,000 yards in the NFL right now is nothing. I don't want to take anything away from it. As much as people throw the football now, you better have 5,000 (yards) if you have Calvin Johnson." - Hall of Fame running back/NFL Network analyst Marshall Faulk
Before 2011, only two quarterbacks had thrown for 5,000+ yards ever. Ever. The two that had were Dan Marino, with 5,084 in 1984 and Drew Brees, with 5,069 in 2008. In 2011, Stafford was joined by Brees and Tom Brady surpassing 5,000 yards. Stafford threw for 5,038, Brady for 5,235 and Brees broke Marino's record with 5,476 passing yards. While Calvin Johnson is hands down the best wide receiver in the NFL, to knock something only three other men have done in the HISTORY OF THE LEAGUE is unprofessional. Yes, the NFL has become a passing league over the last five years. But, this was Stafford's first full season and outside of Johnson, Stafford's receivers leave much to be desired. Na...

Yesterday was Valentine’s Day. Along with all the hearts, Chocolate and flowers, it goes without saying that a lot of horizontal loving was on the agenda as well. Rams Running back Steven Jackson certainly had something to that affect on his agenda. Jackson is heading over to Brazil but missed his connection and spent the [...]
The St. Louis Rams made offensive tackle Jason Smith the No. 2 overall pick in the 2009 NFL draft, expecting him to be the franchise’s anchor along the offensive line. They signed the Baylor product to a six-year, $61.775 million contract, with $33 million in guaranteed money. Well, after three seasons apparently the Rams have had enough of Smith’s attempt at proving worthy...
Quoting the great Eminem, men who hit it without condoms like to do a "raw dog, and bail." But as Peter Burns informed us, St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson sent the following tweet Tuesday night about needing condoms. MTV and BET will probably invite him on as a safe-sex missionary now. I bet he uses Dental Dams as well. [Follow me @TravisHouser]
Former Rams FB Mike Karney tweeted that strength coach Rock Gullickson and his assistant Adam Bailey were cancers to the lockerroom according to Ron Clements of CBSSports.com. The coaches are holdovers from Steve Spagnuolos staff and were retained by new head coach Jeff Fisher. Karney did not offer an explanation for his statements but tweeted "fisher couldn't get...
Rams wide receiver Nick Miller has been suspended for the first four games of next season for violating the NFL policy on performance-enhancing drugs. Under NFL rules, Miller can take part in the offseason workouts and preseason games with his suspension beginning before the regular season. Miller returned a punt 88 yards for a touchdown against the Arizona Cardinals. He averaged...

If your team is in need of a strong, physical and really reliable cornerback ready to make an instantaneous impact, you might want to learn a little about an All-Pro with the Tennessee Titans who’s set to enter 2012 NFL Free Agency.
Often labeled one of the dirtiest players in the NFL, Cortland Finnegan is currently one of the most preeminent players at his position and is expected...
Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford had an impressive season. He passed for 5,038 yards, 41 touchdowns, led the Lions to 10 wins and the playoffs, and won the NFL's comeback player of the year award. Mighty fine for someone the missed a good portion of his first two seasons.

By all accounts, Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford was impressive by throwing for over 5,000 yards last season.
Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk, however, wasn't exactly blown away by the accomplishment.
"Throwing for 5,000 yards in the NFL right now is nothing," Faulk said, per MLive.com. "I don't want to take anything away from it. As much as people...
Sniping season continues for retired NFL stars who are taking potshots at the Lions star quarterback-receiver duo of Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson.
Johnson was in the cross hairs early in the season when Cris Carter did not rank him among the NFLs top five receivers in an interview on ESPN.
Carter later changed his mind about Johnson -- in a presidential election year, well...

Sports with Mr. Factoid returned last night for another great show!
I was joined in studio by @TheJustinTyme for the program. It was great to have him back on the show sharing his knowledge.
The agenda was full, which is typical. Shane Gray (ShaneGMoSTLRams) stopped by during the Hometown Notes segment to share the latest news on the St. Louis Rams.
Many other topics were...
