Phil Richards chronicles the unlikely rise of Robert Mathis including a story about how he got his scholarship: Ron Cooper, coach at tiny Alabama A&M, was watching video. He was looking at another McNair player when an opposing cornerback sliced in, intercepted a pass and took off for the end zone. Forty yards downfield, a smallish guard ran him down. Cooper reran the tape. And again. Hmmm, he thought. The coach had one scholarship left to give. He gave it to Robert Mathis.

Fan Club Friday: White NFL Wide Receivers' WAGS

White receivers in the NFL are about as common as Chihuahuas that don't bark. Like Chihuahuas, the white receiver brand is usually smaller and scrappy. Pretty girls often think they're cute. They can be stocky, they're tough and they (the receivers) often have good hands. Keep the race card in your hand and enjoy the wives and girlfriends of the top five white NFL...

Colts-Patriots Game Loses Primetime Slot

With the Indianapolis Colts continuing to struggle, now down to a 0-9 record, watching a game featuring this team won’t draw as much attention. NBC’s Sunday Night Football is well aware of that, as they took away the prime time slot of the Colts-Patriots game for December 4th — now scheduled for 1:00 PM EST [...]

MUST READ: Blow up the Colts? No.

This is an ESPN insider piece, but it basically makes the case I've been making for two months now. It's all about Peyton. Highlights include: The best quarterback switch a team has made after a disaster season is the 2007 Miami Dolphins, who inserted Chad Pennington and went from one win to 11. Think about that: Pennington has been the best upgrade for a league-worst...

Colts Greats: Tom Moore

Assistant coaches aren't welcomed to the Hall of Fame.  They should be, but that's another story.  Were they welcomed among the first to enter would be Tom Moore.  Luckily the Colts are taking matters into their own hands and giving Moore a proper tribute in a place he'll always consider special: But while Moore no longer is a Colt, he'll forever be a Colt. ...

Castle High student flips Colts' coin, beats the odds

When Seth Gorman said Sunday could have been the day for the Indianapolis Colts to finally win a football game, it was hard to argue.

The Colts take another step toward 0-16

It’s getting easier and easier to see Roger Goodell saying, “With the first pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Indianapolis Colts select…” The Colts lost 17-3 at home to the Jaguars on Sunday afternoon to move to 0-10 and continue to show almost nothing that makes you think they can win a game this…

The Indianapolis Colts honored former offensive coordinator Tom Moore before Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. They should have talked Peyton Manning's longtime guru into putting on a headset.
