Newly drafted Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Matt Barkley says he is “good to go” for team activities. Barkley was drafted by the Eagles at the start of the fourth round. The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that the former USC quarterback was not 100 percent in pre-draft workouts but has healed since. Of concern with Barkley has been his throwing shoulder after he injured it towards the end of the college football season. “I just can’t wait to get into minicamps and prove myself and show that I do have a strong arm, and I am capable of playing in this league, and playing strong,” Barkley said. The Eagles are expected to go with Michael Vick under center to start the season after they restructured his contract. Nick Foles, who finished the 2012 season under center for the team, is also still on the roster.

What Matt Barkley Means For the Future of the Philadelphia Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles drafted USC QB Matt Barkley with the first pick in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft.  Apparently they feared that the Chiefs may take him so they worked out a deal with the Jaguars to move up to the first pick (only gave up a seventh-rounder). And we thought we knew Chip Kelly, huh? Photo courtesy of keepinitrealsports.com I figured that the Eagles...

A Review of the 2013 Philadelphia Eagles Draft Class

The 2013 Philadelphia Eagles draft class has Chip Kelly’s fingerprints all over it.  The team has stated the entire time that the decision-making would be a collaborative effort.  But, make no mistake, these are all Kelly-type players. Much more-so than in recent years, I found myself having a dizzying array of feelings during this draft.  I was excited, frustrated, surprised...

Chip Kelly on the Eagles QB competition: ‘if they can’t handle not being named the guy in April, then what are they going to do when things go wrong in September’

It’s all about competition now for Eagles coach Chip Kelly and his quarterbacks, but at some point someone has to take the lead. While that process has been going on for a month, the competition level was raised when the team drafted USC QB Matt Barkley. However, Kelly want his starting quarterback to earn the role, even if that means a starter won’t be named until preseason...

2013 Eagles draft, Kelly green on the horizon?

Chip Kelly’s first draft as Eagles head coach would you rate it a success? Out of the gate with the fourth overall pick they addressed one of their biggest needs, the offensive line. Taking offensive tackle Lane Johnson who should have an instant impact on a line that was, horrible last season. Kelly’s second pick adding another tight end Zach Ertz, a bit of a surprise, but he...

Throw Down Like (Matt) Barkley?

Scouting The nature of drafting QBs that even people who don't follow college football have heard of is that they have far more interest for the general public than any other position. 2013 NFL Draft Team Grades: Philadelphia Eagles

First Round: Lane Johnson, OT, Oklahoma Philly must have been pretty scared when Miami traded up ahead of them, but they got their man anyways. Johnson is the third best OT in the draft, but I think he has the most potential out of the three. I think Chip Kelly can get a lot out of him. He will be a staple on that line for years to come. I think Johnson was one of the top...
