On January 1, 2012, the Packers had already clinched the #1 seed and home field advantage throughout the playoffs and gave the final start to Matt Flynn against the Detroit Lions. He threw for 480 yards and 6 touchdowns in the 45-41 victory, both of which set all-time Green Bay Packers records. That performance drew the attention of many quarterback needy teams including Miami and Seattle. Flynn eventually decided to sign with the Seahawk, but things didn’t go as planned. Flynn signed a three-year deal for $19.5 million, with $10 million guaranteed. However, though the money was guaranteed, the starting quarterback position wasn’t. The Seahawks drafted Russell Wilson in the third round (75th pick overall) of the draft. Little was made about the selection at the time, but once training camp came around, Flynn found himself in a heated quarterback battle, and in turn became the loser. On one hand Flynn still got paid so it’s hard to say he got a raw deal but with the emergence of Wilson, barring injury Flynn isn’t going to see the field anytime soon. The irony is Seattle is facing Miami this weekend, the Dolphins heavily courted Flynn only to be spurned by the quarterback for Seattle. Miami is starting rookie Ryan Tannehill, but Flynn’s luck might have been different in South Florida.Flynn talked if he had any regrets signing with the Seahawks. “I try to have the motto of living life with no regrets,” Flynn said. “I wouldn’t take anything back. I think I look back at the things I looked at, and the personal things I decided on, and I think I wouldn’t take anything back. I don’t have any regrets about it, but it was a tough decision, for sure.” “They told me I’d be coming in and competing,” Flynn said according to Eric D. Williams of the News Tribune. “I wouldn’t say it was hard, but I wouldn’t say it was easy,” Flynn said about picking Seattle over Miami. “I kind of took it with an open mind. I didn’t want to lean one way or another when I looked into it. And I just wanted to get my feel for what I thought would be the best spot.” “It’s been extremely tough, definitely,” Flynn said. “But I’ve tried to take in every day, and try to better myself as a player, better myself as a quarterback, and try to improve on the things I can improve. “So it’s really the only way you can take it – just try and be the best teammate you can be.”           var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});
