Before hanging up his cleats, Matt Light played two seasons in New England with Aaron Hernandez, experiencing the utmost success on the field.
Off the field, however, was a different story.
The former Pats left tackle told Tom Archdeacon of the Dayton Daily News that he "never embraced" or "believed in" the jailed tight end.
“I never talk about other guys, but I will say I have never embraced - never believed in - anything Aaron Hernandez stood for,” Light said, as his "easy smile quickly vanished."
It's worth noting that Light's comments came before Hernandez was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the death of Odin Lloyd.
Light wouldn't elaborate further, but for him to speak out says a lot. As Archdeacon notes, "I’ve known Matt Light a long time and I have never - and I mean NEVER - heard him speak ill of another player."
