Maurice Jones-Drew Signs Extension

The Jacksonville Jaguars and Maurice Jones-Drew agreed to a contract extension today that makes him one of the three highest-paid running backs in the NFL, ESPN.com reports. Jones-Drew signed a five-year, $31 million contract of which $17.5 million is guaranteed. The only two backs currently with bigger deals now are Steven Jackson of the St. Louis Rams and Larry Johnson of the Kansas City Chiefs, with five-year deals worth $48.5 million and $43.14 million respectively. Jones-Drew was entering the final year of his contract and was set to make $535,000. The former 2006 second-round pick out of UCLA has averaged 4.8 yards a carry, 9.5 yards per-reception, and scored 34 rushing touchdowns during his career.
