Maybe Geno Smith shouldn’t have typed that chip-on-the-shoulder tweet. Maybe Geno Smith taught us that all NFL mock drafts are useless and predictive of nothing. I had him mocked #2 to Jacksonville. So did Michael Irvin of NFL Network. Everyone had him #1 among quarterbacks. For a good 4-6 months of 2012-13, Geno Smith was the consensus #1 in most mocks. That seems like a long time ago. Because the NFL said “hey, thanks for coming” to Geno Smith last night. By now you’ve heard about the defensive tweet from Geno Smith. Maybe it’s a typo; maybe he meant Friday or Saturday. And the supportive one from Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers to Geno Smith Just want to thank all those so called “experts” who say I can’t be an NFL QB. Thursday will be a special day but the work has only begun — Eugene Geno Smith (@GenoSmith_12) April 23, 2013   Hang in there Geno, “good things come to those who wait” -Paul Tagliabue — Aaron Rodgers (@AaronRodgers12) April 26, 2013 Who would have ever though E.J. Manuel from Florida State would be the only QB taken in the first round? Maybe Matt Barkley, Ryan Nassib and Mike Glennon will go ahead of Geno Smith too? Maybe mock drafts are useless. Maybe Geno Smith will have to wait till round three or four? Paul M. Banks is the owner of The Sports Bank.net.
