You might have noticed that the Cowboys’ mainstay punter Mat McBriar was absent from the team’s season-ending, 31-14 loss to the Giants on Sunday night. This was because the day before, McBriar had been placed on injured reserve by the team, prematurely (though barely as it would turn out) ending his season and leaving Chris Jones to punt against the Giants. As one might guess, this wasn’t, and isn’t, a good sign for McBriar’s health. The abilities of the two-time Pro Bowl punter are generally unquestioned--but he struggled with a case of drop foot, the result of some nerve damage, in his plant foot for most of the year. That he has yet to recover presents an interesting question not just to McBriar, but the Cowboys as well--because as of last Sunday night, McBriar is a free agent. "I mean, look to be honest I felt like I didn’t feel myself out there," McBriar said this week, per ESPN Dallas. "I didn’t feel like I was givin...

Jerry Jones Doesn’t Plan on Stepping Down As GM Any Time Soon

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones made an appearance on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas with Shan and RJ. He was asked if he’d consider bringing in former Colts vice chairman Bill Polian. Jones said that the job of general manager is his and it’s what has worked out the best for the Cowboys organization. “The thing you’ve got to realize is that when you have an...

Romo kicking himself over pass beyond the line of scrimmage

Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo had both a brilliant play and a dumb play on the same play in Sunday night’s loss to the Giants, and afterward he was kicking himself over it. With the Cowboys facing third-and-5 at the Giants’ 39-yard line, trailing 14-0 late in the second quarter, Romo dropped back to pass and…

Cowboys believe offseason program will make a difference

IRVING – Shortly after the Cowboys’ 31-14 loss to the Giants, former Dallas fullback Daryl “Moose” Johnston offered a ray of sunshine to Cowboys fans by extolling via Twitter the virtues of Cowboys strength and conditioning coach Mike Woicik. Jerry Jones Says He Will Never Give Up His GM Title

Jerry Jones, the NFL’s only owner/general manager, won’t even consider changing the structure of the Dallas Cowboys’ front office, despite the fact that disappointing seasons have been the norm since the franchise’s mid-1990s dynasty died. “The facts are that I’ve spent 22 years doing this exactly the same way,” Jones said Tuesday on KRLD...

It appears that Rob Ryan will be back at the helm of the Cowboys’ defense in 2012. Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported yesterday that owner and general manager Jerry Jones, in a recent radio appearance on 105.3 The Fan, said that he expects Ryan to return for a second season.
