IRVING Before Jason Witten was medically cleared to play in the season opener last week, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said the seven-time Pro Bowler was already cleared to play against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2.
Witten played 53 of the offense's 68 snaps against the New York Giants, and that number should increase against the Seahawks.
But that doesn't mean the Cowboys medical staff won't continue to monitor Witten's recovery from a lacerated spleen.
"I think we have to monitor him," Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said Monday. "We have to see how he feels. We anticipate him being able to practice today and go forward. We have to keep checking in with him and he has to communicate with us.
"You know, it's hard for us to tell if he's doing OK. He just has to communicate that with us and we'll make the necessary adjustments. But we anticipate him being able to practice."
Witten was on the field for the media portion of Monday's practice.
