Great news for the Pittsburgh Steelers today as they’re slowly getting players back from injury, activating RB Rashard Mendenhall and NT Casey Hampton from the physically unable to perform list. Both are coming off ACL injuries that occurred at the end of last season, and it’s still unclear whether the two will be ready in time for their season opener against the Denver Broncos. Mendenhall is activated as RB Isaac Redman, who has seen most of the work in Rashard’s absence, injured his groin last week and just had an MRI. The team still is without Max Starks, Mike Adams and James Harrison, who had knee surgery on Wednesday. The Steelers host Indianapolis Colts Sunday night.

Steelers Not Likely To Use Timmons Outside Again Should Harrison Not Be Ready

If you watched any of the Pittsburgh Steelers games from last year when right outside linebacker James Harrison was sidelined for four weeks with his fractured orbital bone suffered against the Houston Texans, you clearly know that replacing Harrison with inside linebacker Lawrence Timmons is not something the Steelers ever want to have to do again. During those four games that...

Steelers LB Harrison undergoes minor knee surgery

Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison underwent surgery on his left knee Wednesday and his return is uncertain. The 34-year-old Harrison has been struggling with lingering pain in the knee for months. Coach Mike Tomlin called it a ''minor'' procedure but added he's not ready to put a timetable on when Harrison will be cleared to play. Harrison is currently...

Steelers’ Harrison may miss season opener

(Image courtesy of Peter Diana/Post-Gazette) On Wednesday, Pittsburgh Steelers‘ star outside linebacker James Harrison underwent arthroscopic surgery on his ailing left knee.  Though the operation went well, it is uncertain whether or not Harrison will be recovered in time for the team’s season opener on September 9th in Denver. The game will be a rematch of sorts after the...

Max Starks Will Not Play Sunday Night Against Colts

Pittsburgh Steelers tackle Max Starks was removed from the PUP list this week, but he said on Thursday that he will not play Sunday night in the Steelers second preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts. Because of the new CBA rules, Starks has not been able to put the pads on just yet and wont until Friday. Although Mike Tomlin said this week that he was not ruling out Starks...

Don’t Throw Out Batch With The Mendenhall Bath Water Just Yet

The prevailing sentiment around Steeler Nation since the Pittsburgh Steelers activated running back Rashard Mendenhall from the PUP list on Friday is that second year running back Baron Batch is now on the outside of the bubble looking in and pretty much destined to be a member of the practice squad, assuming he is not picked up by another team. What most people seem to be basing...

Harrison, Polamalu out vs. Oakland

Linebacker James Harrison and safety Troy Polamalu did not take part in the Steelers' final practice of the week and will not play Sunday at Oakland. The defensive standouts - named to a combined 12 Pro Bowls - will not dress for the second consecutive game. Harrison, who had surgery on his left knee Aug. 15, has not played yet this season. Polamalu missed last week's win...

Quick Spin: Steelers Activate RB Rashard Mendenhall

The Steelers must be getting desperate for RB depth as they have surprisingly activated Rashard Mendenhall from the PUP list. Mendenhall suffered the injury in week 16 last season and his expected absence had Isaac Redman climbing draft boards. Redman suffered a groin injury in training camp that was labeled as minor but regardless his fantasy draft stock takes a hit with Mendenhall...

Steelers activate Mendenhall, Hampton

Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall and nose tackle Casey Hampton were activated from the physically unable to perform list. Mendenhall underwent knee surgery in January after being injured in the regular-season finale. While he can resume practicing, Mendenhall has been expected to miss about the first six weeks of the regular season. However, being activated from the PUP...

Steelers Activate RB Mendenhall from PUP

It came as a surprise to many, as the Pittsburgh Steelers announced that they have activated Running Back Rashard Mendenhall from it’s Phisically-unable-to-Perform (PUP) list today. Early in the offseason it was thought that the team would be without the back for the majority of the season, if not all of it. Mendenhall suffered a torn ACL in Pittsburgh’s Season Finale against...

The Terrible Podcast – Training Camp Wednesday Day 22 Special Edition Episode

The Pittsburgh Steelers only have two more practices remaining before they break camp and thus the special edition of The Terrible Podcast are starting to wind down. My co-host David Todd did four hours of radio today, so tonight you get me flying solo for almost 30 minutes. The big news on Wednesday of course was that linebacker James Harrison had the scope procedure done on...

Rashard Mendenhall Activated From PUP List

In a surprise move, Pittsburgh has activated running back Rashard Mendenhall from the physically unable to perform list. Mendenhall has been rehabbing an injured knee.Fantasy Spin:Mendenhall isn't expected to be ready for Week 1 but when he does eventually make his return to the field for Pittsburgh, it's sure to limit the amount of touches Isaac Redman will get.
