Over this past weekend it was reported that Jets quarterback Tim Tebow refused to be a part of this week’s wild cat package because he was upset that Greg McElroy was named the Jets’ starter over him.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter spoke with Tebow who gave him an explanation to try to clear things up, but Merril Hoge wasn’t buying it.
“To me it smells like three-day-old fish,” said Hoge. “I think (Tebow) is as phony as a three-dollar bill. Because at the end of the day, what have I heard? That he will do anything at anytime. ‘You ask me to do it, I’ll do it.’ And all of a sudden that’s unacceptable?”
I’m not a big fan of Hoge because of his criticism of Tebow, but in this case I have to agree with him. It’s really disappointing to hear about Tebow going against his coaches because he didn’t agree with a decision they made.
