Buffalo Bills defensive end Shawne Merriman is feeling like his ''Lights Out'' self again after participating in his first practice in nearly eight months.
Despite turning 28 last week, Merriman says he's turning back the clock after rejoining his teammates on the field for a voluntary minicamp session Thursday.
It was his first practice since having season-ending surgery to repair both a partially torn Achilles tendon and a shoulder injury last November. And it came two days after he received a clean bill of health from a specialist who performed the operation on the Achilles.
Now, the three-time Pro Bowl selection is confident he's in a position to regain the form that made him one of the NFL's most dominating pass-rushers before his career was slowed by injuries.

The Buffalo Bills had nothing to lose by signing Shawne Merriman off waivers in 2010, but have yet to see "Lights Out" put together a successful full season.
According to the Buffalo News, Merriman completed the entire 90 minute practice yesterday, his first football workout since October.

Linebacker Shawne Merriman was cleared to return practice and was on the field at the Bills' OTA session Thursday. It's a big step for Merriman, who has battled three years of injuries, including early-season surgery to repair his Achilles' tendon in 2011. When the Bills took to the practice field Tuesday, Merriman was in Birmingham, Ala. visiting with Dr. James Andrews...
"Don't worry, Andy, you're not playing LT again, lol"
As promised, some talk on the pecking order from yesterday’s first practice:
-At QB, Tyler Thigpen got 2nd team reps ahead of Vince Young. This may have been out of respect for Thigpen, which if so, come on, really? Or maybe Buddy wasn’t kidding when he said they brought in Vinsanity to compete for the...

Leodis McKelvin is a former 1st round pick of the Buffalo Bills, going 11th overall in 2008. However, he has yet to live up to his billing and the regime that drafted him is gone. The Bills have used premium picks on cornerbacks in each of the last 2 years, taking Aaron Williams in the 2nd round in 2011 and taking Stephon Gilmore in the 1st round in 2012, so it was fair to wonder...
It’s been a forgetful first two years in the NFL for 2010 fourth round pick Marcus Easley. In two seasons, the only games that Easley has participated in have been two preseason contests. Both of which came last year.A knee injury caused him to miss all of his rookie year, and a heart ailment forced him to have to sit the entire 2011 season. Needless to say, Easley and the rest...
No team has had a longer playoff drought in the NFL than the Buffalo Bills, who haven't been to the postseason since 1999, when they qualified as a wild card entry with an 11-5 record.
In the 10 seasons played since the league implemented four-team divisions in 2002, the Bills have averaged just 6.5 victories per year, finished last in the AFC East five times, posted only two...

Look, we have been trying to be reasonable about this business separation between the Houston Texans and former defensive standout and #1 overall pick, Mario Williams. As we previously talked about a LONG TIME AGO, the idea of the Texans letting Williams walk was a bullet the organization had to bite. Now that he has taken his talents to the Buffalo Toronto Bills (* see note), everything...
