Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin chimed in on the NFL Network with his thoughts about the incriminating audio that’s been released that clearly sounds like former New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams encouraging his defense to injure opposing offensive players on the San Francisco 49ers.
“Every football player that’s ever played the game cringed when he said take out this man’s ACL,” Irvin said. “Every football player that has ever touched a football cringed when he heard that. And I said, ‘Whoa, how do you come back from that?’ ”
I completely feel the same way Irvin feels. I got sick to my stomach when I heard Williams talk about taking out a players 49ers ACL.
I understand how coaches try to get their players fired up for a game, but when a coach specifically talks about injuring another player intentionally, he’s gone too far.
