Turner’s lack of recent breakout games and his recent DUI have taken center stage when his name is mentioned lately.

According to Turner the team’s road trip to his old stomping grounds was the best thing that could have happened to him.

Turner, Chargers back on the hot seat after loss

SAN DIEGO, CA Well, at least there was some good news for the San Diego Chargers and their local fans Sunday afternoon: Because the game wasn't a sellout it was blacked-out in the city and surrounding TV markets. Therefore, Charger loyalists were spared from watching the debacle that took place at Qualcomm Stadium. The Atlanta Falcons jumped out to a 20-0 first half lead and...

Philip Rivers Handles Season’s First Loss With Typical Maturity

The Chargers came into Sunday undefeated. They were also getting their feature back, Ryan Mathews, for the first time this season. Things were looking better for them than any team coached by Norv Turner has a reasonable right to expect. That all came to a halt today when the Chargers got their asses handed to them by the Atlanta Red Falcons. As I write this Rivers might be driving...

Falcons are shaping up as well as any team

It's only three games in, but right now the Atlanta Falcons look as if they are as good as any team in the NFL. With new offensive and defensive coordinators, their makeover appears a success as they improved to 3-0 on Sunday by putting a 27-3 thumping on San Diego, one of only six remaining unbeaten teams in the league. Sunday had set up as a classic "letdown" game...

Philip Rivers Swarmed by Falcons' D

Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers made it look like the first half of 2011 Sunday against the Falcons. Rivers threw two interceptions and completed just 55.3 percent of his passes.Fantasy Spin:Rivers went 21-of-38 for 173 yards and failed to throw a touchdown pass against Atlanta. He came into Week 3 with a 4-to-1 TD/INT ratio and a 73.8 completion percentage.

Turner 'as upset as anyone' after Bolts' loss

Two interceptions, two fumbles, an ineffective pass rush and too little success protecting Philip Rivers. To San Diego Chargers fans, it's all too familiar. Even coach Norv Turner says he's as upset as anyone in San Diego with the way his Chargers were quickly overwhelmed by the Atlanta Falcons in a 27-3 loss on Sunday. There's plenty for the Chargers to work on before...

Ryan Mathews Expected To Start

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter expects Chargers halfback Ryan Mathews to start Sunday versus the Falcons. Mathews missed the team's first two games with a broken clavicle.Fantasy Spin:Curtis Brinkley and Ronnie Brown were largely ineffective in Mathews' absence so we'd expect the 2011 Pro Bowl selection to see the majority of the team's carries Sunday in his 2012 season debut.

Matt Ryan Guns Down Chargers

Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan turned in another top-notch fantasy performance Sunday against the Chargers, though his day could have been better if San Diego would have put up more of a fight.Fantasy Spin:Ryan threw for 275 yards and three touchdowns, but all three came prior to halftime. The Falcons led 20-0 at the half and Ryan didn't have to throw much in the third and fourth.

Falcons 27, Chargers 3

SAN DIEGO -- Atlanta made itself home again in San Diego and extended its perfect mark there. Quarterback Matt Ryan passed for three touchdowns and safety Thomas DeCoud led a strong defensive effort as the Falcons manhandled the Chargers in a 27-3 victory on Sunday. The win was Atlanta's sixth consecutive in San Diego and its eighth victory in nine meeting with the Chargers...

Abraham Busted For Not Cooperating With Police

This is a bit of a developing story, but here's what we know... From the police report as Falcons DE John Abraham (pictured, thanks Atlanta Police Department) was arrested earlier this evening: On 09-24-2012 around 6:30pm officers responded to 361 17th St regarding a female threatening to jump from one of the floors. Falcons' Week 3 preview

Opponent: San Diego Chargers Where: Qualcomm Stadium, San Diego Time: 4:05 p.m. Point Spread (Danny Sheridan's odds as published in USA Today): San Diego is favored by 3 with an over of 47 Key Offensive Match-up: The Chargers' strength on defense is, right now, a Falcons' weakness. The Chargers lead the NFL in holding opponents to a league-low 41.5 yards per game...

Falcons Players Trash Former Coordinator

There were rumors early in the offseason that Atlanta coordinators Mike Mularkey and Brian VanGorder were told to start looking for employment outside of the Falcons organization around the end of the season.  Baseless or not, the rumors started spreading after the much hated New Orleans Saints came to Atlanta on Monday night and drubbed us 45-16.  Brian VanGorder either planned...
