SAN DIEGO, CA Well, at least there was some good news for the San Diego Chargers and their local fans Sunday afternoon: Because the game wasn't a sellout it was blacked-out in the city and surrounding TV markets. Therefore, Charger loyalists were spared from watching the debacle that took place at Qualcomm Stadium. The Atlanta Falcons jumped out to a 20-0 first half lead and...

Falcons are shaping up as well as any team

It's only three games in, but right now the Atlanta Falcons look as if they are as good as any team in the NFL. With new offensive and defensive coordinators, their makeover appears a success as they improved to 3-0 on Sunday by putting a 27-3 thumping on San Diego, one of only six remaining unbeaten teams in the league. Sunday had set up as a classic "letdown" game...

Philip Rivers Swarmed by Falcons' D

Rivers threw two interceptions and completed just 55.3 percent of his passes.Fantasy Spin:Rivers went 21-of-38 for 173 yards and failed to throw a touchdown pass against Atlanta. He came into Week 3 with a 4-to-1 TD/INT ratio and a 73.8 completion percentage.

Turner 'as upset as anyone' after Bolts' loss

Two interceptions, two fumbles, an ineffective pass rush and too little success protecting Philip Rivers. To San Diego Chargers fans, it's all too familiar. Even coach Norv Turner says he's as upset as anyone in San Diego with the way his Chargers were quickly overwhelmed by the Atlanta Falcons in a 27-3 loss on Sunday. There's plenty for the Chargers to work on before...

Ryan Mathews Expected To Start

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter expects Chargers halfback Ryan Mathews to start Sunday versus the Falcons. Mathews missed the team's first two games with a broken clavicle.Fantasy Spin:Curtis Brinkley and Ronnie Brown were largely ineffective in Mathews' absence so we'd expect the 2011 Pro Bowl selection to see the majority of the team's carries Sunday in his 2012 season debut.

Matt Ryan Guns Down Chargers

The Falcons led 20-0 at the half and Ryan didn't have to throw much in the third and fourth.

Opponent: San Diego Chargers Where: Qualcomm Stadium, San Diego Time: 4:05 p.m. Point Spread (Danny Sheridan's odds as published in USA Today): San Diego is favored by 3 with an over of 47 Key Offensive Match-up: The Chargers' strength on defense is, right now, a Falcons' weakness. Falcons Players Trash Former Coordinator

There were rumors early in the offseason that Atlanta coordinators Mike Mularkey and Brian VanGorder were told to start looking for employment outside of the Falcons organization around the end of the season.  Baseless or not, the rumors started spreading after the much hated New Orleans Saints came to Atlanta on Monday night and drubbed us 45-16.  Brian VanGorder either planned...
