When Mike Goodson was in Carolina, he had to share a crowded backfield with DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart. He wanted a better opportunity because Carolina had committed so much money to the above two, there was no way he would see the field while they were healthy. However, when the two went down in 2010 Goodson gained 452 yards and 3 touchdowns with a 4.4 average. Goodson made a good enough impression around the NFL that the Raiders were willing to let Michael Bush walk in favor of trading for Goodson. Goodson was traded to the Raiders on March 30, 2012, in exchange for tackle Bruce Campbell. He now gets to play the team that had him buried on the depth chart and show them he wasn’t just another player. Goodson’s first year with the Raiders hadn’t been what he hope, coupled with talented but often injured Darren McFadden, on paper it looked like a good 1-2 punch. In 10 games with the Raiders Goodson has 200 yards for a 6.7 average despite a high ankle sprain that has kept him out of 4 games. Goodson is healthy and showing his promise, and it couldn’t come at a better time vs. the team that traded him away. "It's a pretty big deal," Goodson said Wednesday. "That's my old team and where I used to be for so long. (They) know me and know of me. I want to beat them just as bad as I want to beat anybody else," according to the Associated Press via Fox News. "You just take it in stride," Goodson said. "I've had a lot of practice time, so the coaches have got to see me. I just try to make plays and make all of my touches count." Goodson’s former coach in Carolina Ron Rivera had this to say: "We have always liked Mike," Rivera said during a conference call. "We tried to find a spot for him last year in all the things that we did. It's not one of those things where we gave up on him. I am glad to see that he's playing and doing the things he needed to do to be out on the field. Mike is a terrific athlete."     var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});
