Rumors and Rants:
NFL Network draft expert Mike Mayock is apparently sick of hearing about Manti Te’o. So much so that he snapped at Rich Eisen during the NFL Network broadcast of the 2013 NFL Draft on Thursday night when Eisen brought up Te’o's name as he discussed the Notre Dame product’s big fall on the night. Te’o and West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith both dropped out of the first round despite being projected as top picks at various points during the college football season. Smith and Te’o are both expected to go quickly on Day 2 of the draft, but where exactly they will land is anybody’s guess. Eisen said, “some folks at home might think we’re returning to it a little bit too much…” (referring to Te’o and Smith’s drops), and Mayock jumped in with “some folks on the desk might think that…” as he raised his hand. Eisen then tried to justify why they kept bringing both names up, in what was an awkward exchange. See for yourself:

Mike Mayock, who never shuts the **** up during NFL broadcasts - spitting all over his microphone while he gives himself a sore throat - had the balls to get pissy with Rich Eisen over the ongoing...

It's surprising move for the Patriots, who still have needs at cornerback and wide receiver, but not exactly a surprising one because well, it's the Patriots.
Linebacker was way down on the list of Patriots needs, though our own Joshua Brown did emphasize that the Patriots needed a cover guy at that spot.
Patriots select LB Jamie Collins out of Southern Miss, per multiple...

Though our NFL analysis is generally pretty spot-on here at LBS, we haven’t spent the past three months watching game film of 400 different prospects. Many of these folks have.
