Christian Ponder and the Minnesota Vikings’ first team offense got some extensive work Sunday evening against the San Francisco 49ers’ first and second team defensive units and for the most part, it wasn’t a performance that would instill confidence into the hearts of the team’s fans, leaving the winless Norsemen on the short end of a 34-14 score.
Ponder came out firing on the first drive, trying to hit Greg Jennings deep, but couldn’t complete the poorly thrown pass. The Vikings and Ponder went right back into their shell, tossing a little short thing that gained absolutely nothing and that had to suffice until the ball was knocked out of Ponder’s hand on the next play. One thing that is very noticeable about Ponder is his nervousness when too many people get too close to him. His feet begin to get happy and he will **** that arm once or twice and on this particular play’s second reload, he happened to be carrying the ball like a loaf of bread when someone bolted in and slapped the food to the ground.
