A Week 17 home game that would have absolutely no impact on the Eagles' playoff seeding? Yeah, I'd seen this movie before. It was actually six years to the day (January 2, 2005) that I attended the 2004 Eagles' Week 17 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. That year, the Eagles had locked up homefield advantage throughout the playoffs in Week 15, so the team had been on cruise control for a couple weeks at that point. Sure, I knew that the Eagles wouldn't be playing Donovan McNabb that day, but it was still an Eagles game -- surely it would still be a blast. And while a good time was had that day hanging out with friends, um, the actual game was puh-retty underwhelming. The Birds lost 38-10 to, wait for it, the Jon Kitna-led Bengals. (If only Kitna had played yesterday, the symmetry would have been delicious.)
