Coach Raheem Morris indicated there was ‘common ground,’ among the Bucs owners and general manager Mark Dominik to keep cornerback Aqib Talib on the team following his arrest for a shooting incident last March in Garland, Texas.
Morris was responding to a Yahoo Sports story, citing a team source, which said Dominik and management was ready to cut ties with Talib after his arrest. But the NFL lockout prevented transactions and provided Morris with time to make Dominik reverse course.
“In the process, Morris sent a message to his young team that talent trumps character,’’ the story said.
Morris was asked Wednesday if he had to convince the Glazer family and Dominik to keep Talib.
“Generally, you never talk about sources and all that type of stuff,’’ Morris said Wednesday. “Sources usually end up getting fired. What we want to do, is basically talk about the Cowboys.
