Found November 30, 2013 on Packer Fans United:
It's taken me -- and many, if not most, Packers fans -- two days to get over the debacle in Detroit. The Green Bay Packers were whipped on both sides of the ball by the Detroit Lions. The team that has been bottom-of-the-barrel in the NFC North for so, so long now sits atop it. The Lions played with determination, energy and passion from start to finish. None of those attributes were present from this current Packers squad.(Photo from Packers.com)This photo pretty well sums up not only what the Packers felt like on Thursday, but what Packer fans worldwide felt watching and listening to this game. Despite the Lions handing the Packers four turnovers on the day, the Pack could only convert those into seven points. But that was four points more than the Packers offense could manage for the day in one of its most inept performances in ages: 126 total yards. The defense, or what might appropriately be called "defense" on this day, gave up 561 yards (or thereabouts...when we&...

Are the Packers the NFL’s least talented?

Aaron Rodgers wants to be back in time for the Atlanta Falcons game and Clay Matthews’ thumb is healing nicely. Truthfully, though, none of that really matters for the Packers’ 2013 season. After Rodgers went down against the Chicago Bears, the Packers have lost time and again. They are 0-4-1 in games that Rodgers was unable to finish or inactive for and, more importantly, they...

Report card: Packers put up a real turkey

Handing out grades following the Green Bay Packers' 40-10 road loss against the Detroit Lions in Week 13: Passing Offense: F It turns out that Matt Flynn wasn't the answer for the Packers. He may have been a "spark" against Minnesota four days earlier, but Flynn as the starter in this game played like a quarterback who was recently cut by Oakland and Buffalo....

Lions atop division after Turkey Day rout

The Aaron Rodgers-less Green Bay Packers were no match for a confident Detroit Lions on their home turf's annual Thanksgiving Day game, routing the former NFC North powerhouse in a 40-10 victory. Total yards told the whole story, dominant for Detroit, 561 YDs and utterly sad for the Packers, who could only muster 126; that's a 435 difference, making it the greatest yardage discrepancy...

Detroit Lions 2013 draft could be what pushes them over the hump

When you looked at the Detroit Lions draft in the beginning of the year, it might had not looked like a very strong bunch, but boy have these guys stepped up.  In my opinion they have had the best drafts in a while.  This draft class landed more than 5 starters, and it could turn […]

Detroit Lions, ‘scumbags’, throttle Pack on Thanksgiving

Ndamukong Suh lays Matt Flynn down for a safety (Photo Credit: G. Smith/Detroit Lions) Packers guard Josh Sitton ate hearty this Thanksgiving.  No turkey for the big guy, just buckets and buckets of crow as the Detroit Lions won, 40-10. The sixth year veteran created controversy when he called the Detroit Lions defense scumbags on a Packers radio station Wednesday morning. Well...

McCarthy: slumping Packers must win out

Still trying to make sense of one of the toughest losses in his successful tenure as Green Bay Packers coach, Mike McCarthy made it clear what his struggling team must accomplish. Speaking Friday morning, a day after the Packers were embarrassed 40-10 by the Detroit Lions, McCarthy feels the Packers must win their remaining four games. ''I would think so, yes,''...

Lions LB DeAndre Levy Calls The NFL A “Joke” For Their Soft Calls

The Detroit Lions defense is used to getting fined by the NFL, especially Suh. It appears another Lion might be added to the list. Lions linebacker DeAndre Levy hit Taylor with his helmet on Thanksgiving, Taylor left the game with concussion-like symptoms. Levy felt the hit was clean, but he fears he’ll get fined or possibly face a suspension. If Levy doesn’t get fined for the...

Historic Beating: ‘Scumbag’ Detroit Lions Humiliate Green Bay Packers

Packers guard Josh Sitton labeled the Lions "scumbags" this week. Detroit delivered its message on Thanksgiving: "you mess with the bull, you get the horns." The Lions dished out one of the great physical and territorial beat downs in NFL history: +502 in Total Team Yards, +435 in total offense.

Tramon Williams is now saying he did not know it was a ref he pushed

If you watched the painful game yesterday where the Lions put up a Forty burger on the Packers, the one thing that was uncalled for was Tranon Williams shoving an official out the way, while arguing with a Lions player. Well he is now claiming he didn’t know it was the ref. “The referee must […]

Mason, I’m Very Sorry

I jumped off the bandwagon a little too soon. After fervently supporting Mason Crosby through thick and thin for five years, I turned on the veteran kicker after last season. And could you blame me? In a league where field goals are made 86% of the time, Crosby managed to connect on just 63% in 2012. I wanted him out, even if it meant going with a noodle-legged Italian named Giorgio...

Packers could shut Aaron Rodgers down for season

The Green Bay Packers are considering shutting Aaron Rodgers down for the season to let him fully recover from his broken collarbone, according to a report. Rodgers broke his collarbone in Week 9 against the Chicago Bears. Initial reports said he might miss three weeks, but Week 14 was later said to be the target […]

Lions dominant in 40-10 rout of Packers

For almost a decade, Thanksgiving seemed to bring out the worst in Detroit's struggling football franchise. With one brilliant, dominating performance, Matthew Stafford, Ndamukong Suh and the Lions finally put an end to that trend. Stafford threw for three touchdowns, and Suh's sack for a safety was part of a smothering performance by the Detroit defense, which led the...

NFL 2013: Thanksgiving Day Games 5 Things We Learned

Thanksgiving day games usually provide us with something substantial.  Last year's butt fumble can hardly be improved upon, but there were some important lessons to take away from the games this year. Sure, some of the games were more forthcoming with hard lessons, but that's the way it goes. Here are five lessons we learned:1. Green Bay Packes really, really need Aaron...

Ndamukong Suh Fined for Throat Slashing Gesture

It wouldn’t be a real Thanksgiving if Ndamukong Suh didn’t do something in the Lions game to get himself fined. This year was no different. While this is on a much smaller level than usual, Suh was fined $7,875 for making a throat slashing gesture after a big play against the Green Bay Packers on […]
