Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is down in Hawaii for the NFL Pro Bowl, a star-studded event that nevertheless will attract tens, nay, hundreds of viewers on Sunday.

As Peterson was strolling down a long line of enthusiastic autograph seekers, one fan held out an orange peanut, meaning this guy has seen, and like all of us, thoroughly enjoyed “NFL: A Bad Lip-Reading,” the sublimely hilarious video that went viral earlier in January.

It looks like Adrian Peterson got a kick out of the orange peanut, but I wonder if it was because of the novelty of someone asking him to sign such a strange item or if it was that Peterson is aware of the video and enjoyed it himself. Here’s hoping it was the latter.

Hurray, everyone! The NFL Pro Bowl is here! That means we ... Get to ... Uh, crap, what does this mean ... We get to watch practice, pretty much? Dudes playing touch football? Rich people enjoying extravagance on a tropical island in the sunshine while we freeze our testicles to our Adam's Apples? I'm trying to remember why this is even a thing at all. Oh, right. Cheerleaders...

At Pro Bowl, Peterson doesn't plan to let up

(Eds: Updates. With AP Photos.) By DAVE CAMPBELL AP Pro Football Writer The Pro Bowl has become so diluted by player withdrawals, Super Bowl qualifiers and minimal effort that the NFL considered pulling the plug on it. The future of the annual all-star game will be assessed again this spring, based partly on how Sunday's game turns out, and in the event of a cancellation it...

Are the San Francisco 49ers in store for a blowup season?

On the surface you could look at all the recent success for the San Francisco 49ers and easily assume they’re well on their way to being perennial contenders for a long time to come. But despite their 36-11-1 record over the last three years which included a Super Bowl trip in 2012 and NFC Championship game appearances in both 2011 and 2013 under Jim Harbaugh, the team seems to...

Is Miguel Cabrera this generation’s Hank Aaron?

On June 20, 2003, Miguel Cabrera struck out in his first big league at bat.  He’d get the last laugh however. In the bottom of the eleventh inning the 20-year-old rookie hit a two-run home run to help his then-Florida Marlins to a 3-1 victory over the then-Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Now, I bring that up only to awkwardly segue into this. Friday, the reigning American League MVP turned...
