New York Jets linebacker Bart Scott was apparently so furious with the media after his team’s 27-13 win over the St. Louis Rams on Sunday that he demanded his teammates participate in a boycott.

According to Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post, Scott ordered every member of the Jets defense to answer all questions with “both teams played hard.” “Both teams played hard” is a nod to notorious NBA headcase Rasheed Wallace, who gave that line in response to every question he fielded during a press conference several years ago.

Scott apparently threatened teammates who did speak with the media, even name-calling fellow linebacker Bryan Thomas for breaking the boycott.

After the attempted media boycott failed, Scott apparently began speaking with reporters calmly.

Hubbuch says Scott called for the boycott in response to an anonymously-sourced story in the New York Daily News during the week that cited a Jets player as calling Tim Tebow a “terrible” quarterback.

The article was a source of much strife in the Jets locker room during the week. Coach Rex Ryan was forced to address it, and Scott responded to allegations that he was one of the anonymous sources.

This also is not the first time Scott has taken an anti-media stance this season. After the Jets beat the Bills in Week 1, Scott declared a media boycott in protest of the New York Post calling the team a bunch of clowns. He also had a run-in with a reporter in the team’s locker room that nearly involved a fight.

Bart Scott failed to lead a media boycott and the Jets get even more absurd

The New York Jets actually won a game on Sunday.  (Yay!)  But of course, we can't go a week in the saga of the 2012 New York Jets without the biggest controversy and news story of the NFL season, win or lose.  The Jets are basically that one person in your life who can never be happy and depends on drama to surivive like it's oxygen.  You know those people.  You probably...

Bart Scott leads ‘media mutiny’ following Jets win

After a tumultuous week filled with antonymous quotes and an alleged in-house divide, the Jets answered the bell in St. Louis, snapping a three-game losing streak with a 27-13 victory over the Rams. But it wasn't enough for Bart Scott, who failed to let Gang Green escape the Gateway City without an extra dash of drama. Following the Jets win, the always outspoken linebacker...

Game Recap: JETS 27 - RAMS 13

Jets keep postseason chances alive with win in St. Louis. After coming off their Bye week and losing big in Seattle, the Jets season seemed to been in a tailspin.  With two blowout losses in three weeks (MIA, BYE, SEA) and an article released that supposedly shed some light on a divided locker room, the Jets found an escape at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis."Our guys have...

Santonio Holmes takes a slight shot at Brian Schottenheimer

After yesterday’s win over the Rams, New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes took a shot at former offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer who now works for the Rams. Good job today #NYJETS for beating up on Shotty n the #RAMS — Santonio Holmes (@santonio10) November 18, 2012 Gotta love players like Holmes and linebacker Bart Scott.  They’re always keeping things classy...

No Huddle – Crucial Win In St. Louis Edition

4-6 is not the type of record to go celebrating in the Meatpacking District over. The way New York athletes often do after big victories. Ending a three game skid and moving beyond a “Terrible Tim” storm that threatened to derail focus on the Rams is. The Jets win over St Louis has seemingly calmed the Florham Park madness down for the time being but more importantly, has moved...

Tebometer rises… but should it?

In the New York Jets 27-13 victory over St. Louis on Sunday, Tim Tebow completed his one and only pass (although calling it a pass is a bit misleading, it was really just a forwarded lateral).   Amazingly Tebow has now put up a 100% completion rate in each of the last 3 games he has thrown the ball. However, his “pass” against the Rams netted the Jets -1 yard, so in reality...

Champ Bailey Defends Tim Tebow After Criticism From Jets, Says ‘It’s Not Easy Being Him’

Tim Tebow may not have the backing of his teammates in New York, but it certainly sounds like he has some support in Denver. Tebow, who was ripped this week by several Jets teammates in the New York Daily News, continues to get respect from players he worked alongside in Denver. “He was one of my all-time favorite teammates,” cornerback Champ Bailey told the Denver Post. “One...

Kerley Active For Jets

New York wideout Jeremy Kerley will be uniform Sunday against the Rams. He had been listed as questionable with heel and hamstring injuries.Fantasy Spin:Kerley sat out practice on Friday but it looks like he'll be a full go Sunday in St. Louis. Fantasy owners have probably learned by now to temper their expectations with Mark Sanchez under center. But just in case it hasn'...

Gameday Deciding Factors: Jets at Rams

The New York Jets are all but officially out of the playoff hunt, but don't tell them that. at 3-6, Jets coach Rex Ryan still thinks they can right the ship, pointing to 2009, when Gang Green suffered two three-game losing streaks, including being at 4-6 at one point, yet still got to the AFC Championship game. If they're going to accomplish the near-impossible, it starts...

Week 11 Preview – St. Louis Rams vs. New York Jets

The Rams must win this game against the New York Jets at home. On the road, I could live with a loss, but at home, we must win. The “must” part is not arising from a fantasy that we are a far superior team to the Jets. There are no teams in this league that we outclass by a large margin. Instead, the “must” part of the win comes from how well this games sets up for...

Jets leaning on experience of 2009 rally for confidence

In Rex Ryan's first season as the New York Jets' head coach, Gang Green overcame two three-game losing streaks and won five of their last six games to make the playoffs and ride an improbable road win streak to the AFC Championship game. Ryan was asked Friday if this year's team, which sits at 3-6, leans on memories of that season for inspiration. "I think from a...
