Chris Kluwe is publishing a book. The outspoken Minnesota Vikings punter, perhaps known more for his thought-provoking, challenging, controversial and often profane yet extremely well-written piece published by Deadspin in September as well as an appearance on The Colbert Report far more than his kicking prowess, will be publishing a book of essays bearing the provocative (?) title of Beautifully Unique Sparkleponies.
According to the Pioneer Press, the book, slated for release on June 25 by Little, Brown and Company, will focus on “issues ranging from faith and government to human rights and professional sports.” Quite a broad range of topics. Said Editor John Parsley in a press release: “Chris Kluwe’s book is just like Chris Kluwe. Sharp-tongued, forthright and committed to exposing and eviscerating our society’s density as quickly and completely as possible.”
The title comes from the phrase Kluwe opted to use in a re-write of the original Deadspin piece instead of the more profane term used there so it could be published elsewhere and apparently comes from a Mother Jones article.
Everybody’s favorite punting wordsmith took to Twitter on Friday to address and discuss his upcoming book.
As mentioned in one of Kluwe’s tweets above, a signed copy of Beautifully Unique Sparkleponies can be had to proudly display on your coffee table or TV tray. Click through here for more details.
