From NESN:

It didn't take long for Mario Williams to have some fun with his new team and his new division rivals.

After signing the most lucrative NFL contract a defensive player has ever received, Williams took some time and put real thought and creativity into his new Twitter avatar.

The result is a Super Mario Brothers-themed image featuring Williams and a fellow Mario, new San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Mario Manningham.

And then, of course, there's the fireball. Much like the video game Mario, Williams seems to have the power to shoot fireballs at his opponents and enemies. Well, the image Williams is using as his avatar features the new Buffalo Bills defensive end shooting one right at a Goomba dressed in a Tom Brady jersey.

If you don't know what a Goomba is, don't worry. The implications of the fictional Super Mario character's clothing choice is much more important.

Ever since a certain cornerback named Bernard Pollard tore Brady's knee apart, the Patriots star quarterback has not been a fan of the pass rush. Now, it seems, he'll have to deal with plenty of it, as Williams is looking to burn him both metaphorically and in reality.

The Patriots are never ones to be intimidated by nonsense like this, but Williams' skills are no nonsense. He'll be a big part of New England's protection scheme going forward.

  • think again. One man doesnt make a team. Bills are still a team that sucks. They will NEVER get past NE at best you might hope to come in second depending on the jets. That said NEITHER team Bills or Jets will EVER get by NE to win the divison. I don't care who you have on your team. NE owns so get over it.
Williams is a one trick pony at best and ends up on IR before the season is half over. Enjoy wasting all the money you spent.

Report: Brady restructures contract to aid in free agency

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady restructured his contract last week in an attempt to assist the team in free agency, the Boston Herald reported on Thursday. Brady's decision last Friday freed up approximately $7.2 million, the newspaper noted, citing NFL Players Association documents. The veteran quarterback, who inked a four-year, $72 million extension in 2010,...

Projecting Mario Williams' Success Based on History

Mario Williams was made the NFL's first $100 million defender by the Buffalo Bills. He's the biggest offseason free agent acquisition in team history and made the most stunning free agency decision since Reggie White gave the Green Bay Packers a shot. That got me thinking. How have other major pass-rushing signings ultimately fared on their new teams? Let's take...

Buffalo Free Agency Doesn't End With Williams

Just when you thought the Bills were through with free agency, they pull you back in. DE Mark Anderson flew into Buffalo Tuesday night, meeting defensive coordinator Dave Wannstedt and going out for a little dinner (they were spotted walking into Tempo downtown), then staying the night to do further interviews Wednesday. While most thought the Bills had begun and ended their free...

Mario Williams to the Bills: Breaking Down the Deal

A week removed from one of the biggest deals in Buffalo Bills history and I am still just as excited as I was that thursday afternoon. Signing All-Pro Defensive End Mario Williams to a earth shattering six year, $100 million deal with a guaranteed $50 million for a small market, usually conservative team like Buffalo seemed like a laughable dream until the talks about Mario visiting...

Robert Kraft Credits Tom Brady for Restructuring Contract, Developing Team in Free Agency

FOXBORO, Mass. -- Patriots owner Robert Kraft commended quarterback Tom Brady for restructuring his contract, and he credited that financial decision toward helping the team sign a number of free agents over the last week. Bills add to depth, sign DE Mark Anderson

First, Mario Williams. Now, Mark Anderson. The Buffalo Bills weren't kidding when suggesting how much they wanted to improve the pass rush this offseason. Making their second significant free-agent splash in less than a week, the Bills on Wednesday signed Anderson to a four-year contract potentially worth $27 million. It includes $8 million guaranteed. The defensive end is a...

Patriots Re-Sign Branch, Brady Restructures Contract

The New England Patriots, who have been signing free agents like Bill Belichick had a Groupon, have dipped into the well and come back with one of their own as they re-sign WR Deion Branch. Branch, long one of QB Tom Brady’s favorite targets, is in his second stint with the Patriots after returning in a 2010 midseason trade with Seattle.  He originally was with New England from...

Gisele Bundchen is Gorgeous

Bills lock up Anderson with four year agreement

A week removed from their blockbuster signing of defensive end Mario Williams, the Bills continued their defensive line overhaul, reportedly agreeing to a four year contract with defensive end Mark Anderson (Patriots). There’s no word yet on the exact financials for the deal, but it should be reasonable given Anderson’s average level of production. Anderson, 28, spent the first...
