Atlanta Falcons kicker Matt Bryant has emerged as one of the better place kickers in the league this season. He has converted timely and clutch field goals all year long, including the game-winner against the Seattle Seahawks last weekend, but kicking footballs a long way isn’t his only rare talent. Bryant told reporters on Thursday that he learned the mating call of an alligator while watching the National Geographic channel one day and has been able to perfect it. “I was watching the National Geographic Channel one day, and heard them mimicking the mating sound that brings an alligator,” Bryant said, via USA Today. “So I figured I’d try and mimic the sound. Sure enough, a baby alligator came up from a retention pond behind our Tampa home.” Bryant also claims he has used the mating call as a distraction when he is having a poor round of golf. While participating in a charity golf event in Myrtle Beach, S.C. last year, he says he frightened some members of his foursome — including offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter — by summoning a gator. “If I’m not having a very good round, I’ll say, ‘Hey, watch this’ and do the alligator call,” Bryant said. “I did it a couple of times at Mr. Blank’s outing. The biggest one that came up from the pond was probably between 6 and 7 feet.” But don’t worry, Bryant has learned that there is a fine line between communicating with the reptiles and putting himself and others in harm’s way. “We were in Cancun for an event and were playing golf when we heard something thrashing in the mangroves,” he explained. ”I did the sound and, all of a sudden, the thrashing stopped. And from me to where Tony Gonzalez’s locker is (12-feet away), a saltwater croc stuck his head up. He was a 12- to 14-footer. He scared everybody, scared me. So I stopped making the sounds. I’ll talk with them now. But it’s from a distance.” Thank goodness for that. This is the same Matt Bryant who had this funny story to tell about his game-winning kick against Seattle, so we know he has a great sense of humor. The question is: Do you believe that he is actually an alligator whisperer? The post Matt Bryant says he has perfected the mating call of an alligator appeared first on Larry Brown Sports. Six teams have done background work on Adrian Peterson

Adrian Peterson definitely will be suiting up for an NFL team next season after missing all but one game last season due to his legal issues. It’s only a matter of which one. NBA set to earn $700M through streaming deal in China

Television rights deals have become one of the main sources of income for professional sports leagues over the years.  It’s a multi-million dollar business, and often times, multi-billion dollar business for the biggest leagues.  But when it comes to revenue from television deals, we usually just focus on what professional sports earn in America.  There’s a bounty of money...

Wade Phillips is the best coordinator hire this offseason

This Sunday the 2014-15 NFL season will officially come to an end, and Wade Phillips didn’t set foot on a single sideline. Let’s make a pact to ensure that never happens again as long as he’s willing and healthy. The Denver Broncos just did their part by hiring Phillips, and he’ll now be the defensive coordinator as part of a shiny new coaching staff. Before long we...

Bill Belichick gives understated scouting report of Tom Brady

PHOENIX — Tom Brady could go down as the greatest quarterback of all time, but Bill Belichick still seems to view him as the New England Patriots’ 2000 sixth-round draft pick. Belichick was asked to compare Brady to Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson during a Super Bowl XLIX joint news conference with Pete Carroll. Belichick chose not to touch on Wilson, whom he only...

Five teams that failed to improve this offseason

As the offseason begins to wind down, most of the teams in the league made a statement on their plans for the 2015 season. A shocking amount of teams took steps towards contending, while some pumped the brakes a little bit and decided to rebuild for the long-term future. However, some teams didn’t make much of their winter, and are still hanging out in no man’s land. Other...

Steelers fans were more profane on social media

It’s no secret Steelers fans are one of the most passionate NFL fan bases out there. And this is nothing new. Historically, they’ve always had a strong presence wherever they play—traveling well and rocking the black and yellow in nearly every square inch of North America. They will also go to great lengths to defend their team. And sometimes profanity is involved. On that...

Richard Sherman's girlfriend talks possible Super Bowl baby

A big story emerging out of the buildup to Super Bowl XLIX is whether or not one of the Seattle Seahawks’ best players will even be on the field come Sunday. DeMarco Murray: I don't pay attention to being replaced

Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray is slated to become a free agent in March. And while he’s coming off a season that saw him put up a league-high 1,845 yards and 13 touchdowns, a return to the Cowboys is far from a certainty. With the Cowboys honing in on signing Dez Bryant to a long-term extension and very little money under the salary cap, there’s a strong possibility...
